In this scenario, countless electronic objects will act as intelligent and communicating nodes inside larger and powerful networks. No matter if such networks will be aimed to industrial, domotics, security, healthcare, transportation, consumer or any other possible application domain, all such objects have to undergo three common requirements: They need to be Smart, containing enough intelligence and sensors to perform required operations at the lowest possible energy consumption They must be able to wireless Communicate with other nodes or remote center in their network, exchanging information and receiving instructions in a reliable and secured way. That also implies that they need to cope with present and future secure communication protocols. They must be Autonomous for many years, meaning able to harvest enough energy from the environment to prevent cost for battery replacement or even the need for a battery at all: wiring or conventional batteries can’t be an option anymore.
