2013 PRIX ARTS-AFFAIRES DE MONTRÉAL ENTERPRISE CATEGORY Winner: National Bank Sponsors: Pointe-à-Callière Foundation Fondation du Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal Supported by: Galerie René Blouin Division Gallery Fondation Québec Jeunes Parisian Laundry Bibliothèque et Archives nationales Fondation Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec Just for Laughs Festival A longstanding partner of the Pointe-à-Callière Foundation, National Bank helps develop and promote the Museum, particularly in creating the Montreal Archaeology and History Complex, the largest project in the Museum’s history. In 2009, it hosted the Major Donors event organized by the Pointe-à-Callière Foundation ‒ which raised over $150,000 ‒ with the incredible support of Louis Vachon, National Bank’s President and Chief Executive Officer and member of the Museum since 2002. During the Pointe-àCallière Foundation’s first major fundraising campaign in 2013, which Louis Vachon co-chaired, National Bank again showed its support by donating a remarkable $1 million. In addition to offering unparalleled support and showing great generosity to the arts and culture through partnerships with some of Greater Montréal’s prominent cultural institutions, such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Theatre School of Canada, the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, the Just for Laughs Festival and the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, National Bank encourages its employees to volunteer on the board of directors, as donors and as ambassadors for fundraising activities and development projects for Pointe-à-Callière. Its donation and sponsorship program, along with its employees’ initiatives, benefit communities in the areas of health, education, arts and culture as well as mutual assistance in the community. National Bank takes its commitments seriously and helps the artists, creators and cultural organizations it supports shine on the national and international stage. It generates pride in our collective heritage. Every year, Private Wealth 1859 sponsors the Collectors Symposium organized by the Fondation du Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and invites some 30 of its most important business contacts and customers at its expense, making it possible to acquire a work for the Museum’s permanent collection. The support of this National Bank subsidiary plays an important role in the development and positioning of Quebec’s emerging artists on the international contemporary art scene and helps sustain contemporary art. The vast and fertile field of culture draws enormous benefit from the involvement of businesses like National Bank that invest in the long-term development of organizations.
