Vita: I grew up in a small village, Bagnères de Bigorre, at the foot of the central Pyrenees mountains (France).
In 1989, under the supervision of Dr. Guy Bertrand, I have defended my PhD in organic and main group
chemistry. My main project consisted in the preparation, characterization, and reactivity of the first stable
carbene. I also synthesized nitrogen-containing heterocycles from diazo compounds during my 3 months stay in
Pr. Edgar Niecke laboratory in Bonn (Germany) as a PROCOPE European fellow. I then joined, at the
University of Utah (USA), the team of Pr. John A. Gladysz specialized in coordination and organometallic
chemistry for a two years post-doctoral researcher. I started in 1992 a senior researcher as “Chargé de
Recherche” at the CNRS working at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC) in Toulouse in the team
of Dr. Jean-Pierre Majoral. My skills in organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry were devoted to
supervise my topic centered in the studies of the interaction between group 4 and main group elements. In 1999,
I was promoted to research director. I am interested now in main group and coordination chemistry directed (i)
for the development of catalytic processes that are energy efficient, minimize or preferably eliminate the
formation of waste, avoid the use of toxic and/or hazardous solvents and reagents, and, where possible, utilize
renewable raw materials, and (ii) for electron transfer processes in the field of efficient light-energy conversion
and sensors applications. My research are based on a strong background in experimental main group element and
organometallic chemistry and on the complementary skills of the group members.
