Government of Karnataka has sanctioned a Government Polytechnic
Hangal vide GO no: ED/174/YOYOK/2007 dt: 23/07/2007 to meet the needs of
meritorious rural students. This polytechnic imparts quality technical education
to meritorious rural students. This polytechnic exploits the rural talents through
technical education.
Government Polytechnic Hangal is located in Haveri district. Hangal is
a small town in Haveri District having population of 45000.The main occupation
of the people is agriculture.
This Polytechnic offers 3 years diploma courses in the following
engineering

intake per course. The intake is increased to 60 per course vide AICTE letter no:

The courses are offered for SSLC Passed out meritorious
students. The admission process begins in the 1st week of June every year. The
candidates are admitted through centralized Online Interactive Counseling. As
per the AICTE guidelines 20% seats are reserved for Passed out students of ITI.
They are admitted directly to 3rd semester through lateral entry.
The Institution has Permanent building with fully equipped
laboratories. The women’s hostel is constructed under MHRD Scheme. This
institution is inspected and approved by EVC team of AICTE New Delhi in the
year 2015- 16.
86 posts have been sanctioned to this polytechnic, out of which 32
teaching and 54 non teaching. At present 18 permanent teaching staff, 11Guest
lecturers, 03 permanent office staff and unskilled part time menial / security
persons are working in the institution.
This polytechnic conducts seminars / Guest Lectures / Technical Visits /
Career guidance programs in addition to regular curriculum.
