STOP MURDER MUSIC! STOP CAPLETON IN FRANCE, SPAIN, BELGIUM, NETHERLANDS AND UK! EN Paris, Friday, the 2nd of July, 2010 Press release No. TR10INT09 _ The singer CAPLETON will appear from the 5th of July to the 1st of August in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and UK [1]. He is well known for his lyrics calling for the murder of LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bi- and trans-gender), such as "Burn out a queer, Blood out a queer" (from Bun Out Di Chi Chi); "Sadomite and batty man mi shot up" (from Whoa!) or "Yow, string them up and hang them up alive" (from Hang Dem Up) [2]. TJENBÉ RÈD calls upon human rights organisations in these countries to mobilise. Get talking to the fans of CAPLETON! Let the halls where he will be appearing know what sort of singer they are hosting! Contact the local authorities who support these halls! Contact organisations who plan to have LGBT events in these halls! If the halls claim to be bound by contract, ask them to promise in future to insert a standard clause nullifying automatically any contract signed with performers who have issued such calls for homophobic homicide! Ask them to publicly commit themselves never again to host any performer targeted by the STOP MURDER MUSIC CAMPAIGN (whose activities in France are coordinated by TJENBÉ RÈD), namely, BEENIE MAN, BOUNTY KILLER, BUJU BANTON, CAPLETON, SIZZLA, TOK and VYBZ KARTEL as well as MAVADO, DR. EVIL and LEFTSIDE! [3] CAPLETON’s hangers-on sometimes claim he signed, supposedly on 10th of May, 2007, the REGGAE COMPASSIONATE ACT (which committed him no longer to perform homophobic lyrics). Beware, a lie! CAPLETON has never said he has signed this document. What is more, he has been breaking it since the 25th of December, 2007! TJENBÉ RÈD is always willing to help you: NO PASARÁN!
