PROGRAM PROGRAMME International Biennial Congress of The Marcé Society in collaboration with the Société Marcé Francophone (SMF) and WAIMH Francophone Paris, October 3-5, 2012 Paris, 3-5 Octobre 2012 ASIEM - 6, rue Albert de Lapparent - 75007 Paris Geneviève Bayle - Maternité (2007) Congress in English Traduction simultanée en français dans les amphi A et B Taking action around childbirth together Mental health prevention and support to parenthood Agir ensemble en périnatalité Prévention de la santé mentale et soutien à la parentalité In partnership with International Biennial Congress of The Marcé Society in collaboration with the Société Marcé Francophone (SMF) and WAIMH Francophone Taking action around childbirth together Pregnancy and postpartum are times of upheaval, not only for women and men who will become parents but also for the immature baby who cannot survive alone. Birth, a primordial social event for families and societies, is imbued with the cultural and emotional contexts of both parents and of the country where this birth takes place. This congress will consider how parents going through this sensitive period and psychological suffering are recognized, supported, cared for and followed from pregnancy to postpartum and in the relationship with their children. We will call upon the fields of Psychiatry and Mental Health to visit the cradle and examine specific aspects of the pre and postpartum period. We will pay particular attention to the child and his/her early relationship with both parents.
