In writing is a 14 year-old boy. It’s name is Said Islam Yacoub, He was born in Camerun in September 1997 the 17th, and he cannot find his mother Kadijatou anymore. His dad is dead, and with his mother they have spent the last four years at Sebha, in Libya. He didn’t see her since last March the 17th. That day she didn’t come back home and after a few days, the Gheddafi’s soldiers have come to take Said Islam and brought him away, loaded with force together with hundreds of other Africans deported toward north, in the harbours on the Mediterranean where the boats sail from, directed to Lampedusa. After four months from that trip, Said has decided to write a letter to his mother. He wants her to know how much he loves her and how much it needs her. He wants her to know that he is alive and that he always looks for her. Nobody knows where she can be. But Said is convinced that she is still alive. She could be still at Sebha in the fugitive fields of Choucha, in Niger or in any rescue centre in Italy. Anywhere she is, help us to spread the Said’s letter and to search her. Thank you very much. To my mother. Lampedusa, Italy, July 2011 the 24th I write this letter to tell you that I love you. From when we are separate I think of you day and night, the night is very long for me away from you. You are the most beautiful woman in the world, all the children dream to have you on the earth, you are the best mother that I have ever been able to think. One day I have separated from you, mother. You know, if You were a flower I’d plant you in my heart, I would water you with my hands. When I think of you the tears start to drop. If I am here today without you I feel alone in the world and there’s nothing to do, you are the person that counts the most for me, the dearest of the world. I dream, one day, to find you again healthy and safe, your little songs make my moral climbs and give me the hope to be a child loved by his mother. I’d want to be the happiest in the world as other childrens of the earth, I would want to rejoice of your presence, I promise that I will fight as I am able with all of my strengths to find you. I know that you are alive and you think of me , I will always be concentrated in everything I do praying God, merciful, the most merciful, I know that You listen to me, without sleep neither drowsiness, You are present in your throne. Among all the children, help me to find again my family, I’d want to be the happiest in the world and it would be one unforgettable day of my life. Do you help me and let me out of this grate?
