Sea Scout Boats in Denmark

There are three types of boats in use by Danish
Sea Scout patrols. Each Group has a tradition of
using only one type of boat because the sailing
charatistics vary from boat to boat.

Scout boat. The
boat is built of

Today there are 26 still in use, the
oldest being 45 years old.
Svendborgjollen
A modern boat available as an
open boat or with a cutty
cabin. Crewed by 3-6
people. At the end of the
60’s there was a wish for
a new and more
modern boat.
Again, a Scout
father came with a
design and Bjørn
Jensen from
Svendborg
designed and
built
the first svendborgjollen in
1968. The first boats were
mould and became
available in solid GRP.
Today there are 40
examples of the various
models in use as
patrol boats.
Ålborgjollen
A stable open boat for 4-6 people. Aage Utzon
(father of Jorn, of Sydney opera house fame)
designed this boat in 1929 for his son’s Sea Scout

Wayfarerjollen
Designed by Ian
Proctor in 1957
the Wayfarer is
an extremely fast
and seaworthy dinghy that is crewed by 2-6
people. One of the great advantages of this boat
is that it does not require a mooring and is easily
transported behind a car.
Today there are 28 of these boats in use.
In addition to the above, many Optimist dinghies
are in use by junior scouts (8-10) and mini-scouts
(6-8). Most groups also have a keelboat that is
used by seniors and leaders.

Wayfarerjollen
Conçu par Ian Proctor en 1957, le Wayfarer est
un canot très rapide et sûr. Équipage 2-6. Ce
bateau n’a pas besoin d’un mouillage en port, et
il est facile de le remorquer en arrière d'une
voiture. Aujourd’hui il y a 28 exemples de ce
bateau en service.
En plus de ces bateau, il y a aussi un grand
nombre des canots “Optimist” surtous pour les
junior scouts (8-10) et les mini-scouts (6-8).

En Danemark, les patrouilles utilisent trois types de

Ålborgjollen
Un bateau ouvert, stable, pour 4-6 gens.
Aage Utzon (le père de Jorn, renommé pour le

News from Sea Scouting in Turkey

Marmaris Sea Regatta was a very successful camp
for Sea Scouts in Turkey. Some 200 Sea Scouts
attended, coming from Canakkale, Istanbul, Izmir,
Kocaeli, Marmaris, Mersin and Ankara - cities on
the north, west and south coasts, as well as from
the middle of Anatolia. The Sea Scouts of
Marmaris hosted the camp.
They joined
in activities,
games and
competitions
(such as
fitting a
pirate type
sailing
boat!).
They visited
Navy ships
and boats in
the harbor,
and
especially
enjoyed
visiting a
submarine.
Svendborgjollen
Un bateau moderne pour 3-6, qui existe comme
bateau ouvert ou avec cabine.
Ver la fin des 60's il y avait un souhait pour un
bateau plus moderne. Encore, un père d’un scout
a produit une conception et Bjørn Jensen de
Svendborg a construit le premier Svendborgjollen
en 1968. Les premiers bateaux étaient construits
de placage croisé, couvert de fibre de verre. Plus
tard on a fabriqué un moule et aujourd'hui ils sont
disponibles dans GRP solide. Aujourd’hui il y a 40

international UN days. They returned home with
dreams of organizing a scout sailing cup in 2006,
and also a regatta of cardboard boats, like the
one in Tempe, Arizona.

Exhibition for Eurojam – Turkish Sea Scouting has
prepared a program and exhibition for Euro Ville
workshops at Eurojam about Black Sea
Environment Program. This program will continue
in September with participation in “International
Coastal Cleanup.” Recently they became one of
the 27 organizations to participate in UNEP
supported Clean up the World activity, over ten
years out, over 600 organizations around the
World.

La Régate de Mer de Marmaris était un camp très
bonne pour les Scouts Marins en Turquie. Environ
200 Scouts Marins ont été là, de Canakkale,
Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Marmaris, Mersin et
Ankara - les villes des côtes du nord, de l’ouest et
du sud, aussi du milieu d'Anatolie. Les Scouts
Marins de Marmaris ont organisé le camp.
Ils ont
participé
dans des
activités, et
des
compétitions
(comme
gréer un
bateau de
voile de
pirates!). Ils ont visité des vaisseaux de la Marine
et des bateaux dans le port, et surtout ils ont
apprécié visiter un sous-marin.
Ils ont fait aussi des expositions des activités et des
projets, aussi que des affiches concernant les jours
internationaux d'ONU. Ils se sont rentrés à maison
avec l’éspoire d'organiser une competition de voile
en 2006, et aussi une régate des bateaux de
carton, comme la regatte dans Tempe, Arizona.

Retired Navy Capt. U. Savas Baran, member of
the Advisory Committee of the Turkish Scout and
Guide Federation, hopes to recreate his fathers
amphibious Bicycle for the World Jamboree of
2007. His father, A. Suavi Baran, who was also a
Navy Captain, as a young man, made a bicycle,
with floats of light canvas on wood frames on each
side. These were waterproofed with white paint.
The front wheel was used as rudder and the rear
one paddled the bicycle in water. A simple lever
raised the floats for land cycling. He was happy to
go to into the river, and became sea-borne when
he lowered the floats.
Later he became a midshipman in Turkish Navy
engineering corps and made a similar catameran
bicycle in Golcuk, and used it for fun.
Le Bicyclette du Capitain Baran !
Capitaine (retraité) U. Savas Baran, membre du
Comité Consultatif de la Fédération Scout et
Guide de Turquie, espére de recréer la bicyclette
amphibie de son père, pour le Jamboree Mondial
2007. Son père, A. Suavi Baran, était aussi un
Capitaine de Marine. Comme jeune homme, il a
fait une bicyclette avec deux flottes, construit de
toile sur une charpente de bois, et
imperméabilisées avec la peinture blanche. La
roue avant était le gouvernail, et la roue arrière a
propulsé la bicyclette dans l’eau. Il y avait un
levier simple pour lever les flottes en haut pour
voyager à terre.
Plus tard il était aspirant dans la Marine turque,
corps des ingenieurs, et il a fait une autre
bicyclette/catamaran dans Golcuk, qu’il a utilisé
pour l'amusement.
Exposition pour Eurojam – Le Scoutisme Marin de
Turquie a préparé une exposition au sujet d’un
Programme Environnemental pour la Mer Noire.

I know that
we started
to build
“Lelievlets”
about
1955,
because, as
a sea scout,
I was
learning
Lelievlets
rowing and
sailing in my
teens in vlets number 2 and 3, and I am now 58
years old!
These boats are made of steel, and we built ±
1500 Lelievlets on the original design. In 2000 we
updated the drawings and made a digital version,
which is now in use by the builder. Since then we
have built ± 20 Lelievlet according to updated
digital version.
We also started in ± 1955 with the “Lelieschouw,”
which is a flat bottom sailing boat coming from the
old Dutch wooden sailing boat designs. The first
12 Lelieschouws were made from wood before the
steel version was introduced, since when we have
built a couple of hundred.

the Zeekadetkorps,
which is an preparation organization for the Royal
Navy. We have also with them a very good contact

Je sais que nous avons commencé à construire

Seepfadfinderabteilung Zürich

Auf der Suche nach einer sinnvollen Kombination
zwischen der Pfadfinderei und der Seefahrt
gründeten ein paar Seeknaben 1958 die
Seepfadfinderabteilung Zürich. Ziel war und ist es,
Jugendlichen Gemeinschaftserlebnisse in der
Natur zu
bieten und
eine
gehörige
Portion
seetechnisch
es Geschick
mit auf den
Weg zu
geben.
Unser Verein zählt heute rund 150 Aktiv- und
Passiv- mitglieder. Bis heute ist die Seepfadi Zürich
die einzige Seepfadi in der Schweiz.
Ausgangspunkt für unsere Abenteuer ist unser
Bootsplatz Ithaka in Zürich.
Wer kann mitmachen?
Mädchen und Buben zwischen 6–11 Jahren
erkunden die Welt bei den Wölfen. In Meuten
machen sie am Samstagnachmittag Zürich und
Umgebung unsicher; ihr Revier ist meistens das
Land, da sie für den See noch zu klein sind.
Ab 12 Jahren ist dann die Pfadistufe dran, die in
einen Buben- und einen Mädchenzug unterteilt ist.
Zwischen März und Oktober durchpflügen sie die
wilden Wasser des Zürichsees; in der Wintersaison
sind Überholarbeiten an der Flotte und Übungen
im Wald angesagt.
Zum Normalbetrieb kommt im Sommer ein
reichhaltiges Zusatzprogramm wie Segel- oder
Motorenkurse; auch ein Wasserfahrverein ist der
Seepfadi angegliedert, in welchem wir das fahren
auf fliessendem Gewässer erlernen.
Unsere Flotte
Stolz sind wir auf zwei Grossschiffe: ein Langschiff
aus Stahl (Arktis) und ein Hochseerettungsboot
(Delphi). Dazu kommen diverse Weidlinge und
Segeljollen.
Lager
Im Sommer verbringen wir ein 2-wöchiges
Pfadilager auf dem Obersee (Teil des Zürichsees).
Ansonsten haben wir noch ein Pfingstlager auf See
und mehrere Weekends.

Sea Scouting in Zürich

The Zürich Sea Scout Group was founded in
1958. The aim was, and remains, to offer a youth
partnership experience in nature, and to develop a
reasonable level of seamanship. Today we have
about 150 active and passive members. We are
currently the only Sea Scout Group in Switzerland.
The base for our adventures is our boathouse,
“Ithaka,” in Zürich.
Who can join?
Girls and boys ages 6–11 explore the world in
Cubs. Their activities are around Zürich on
Saturday afternoons. Their territory is mainly on
land beause they are still too small for
seamanship.
The Scout section begins at age 12 and has boys’
and girl’s troops. From March to October they
explore Lake
Zürich, and
in the Winter
they
maintain the
boats and
explore the
woodlands.
In summer
there is a
sailing and motorboating program. The Sea
Scouts are affiliated to the Water Club, where we
learn to navigate in moving water.
Our Fleet
We are proud of our two large vessels: a steel
longboat (Arktis) and a blue water lifeboat
(Delphi). Additionally we have a variety of
Weidlinge (punts) and sailing dinghies.

Camps
We have a 2 week Scout camp in the summer on
Obersee (part of Lake Zürich). We also have a sea
camp at Penticost, as well as many weekend
camps.

Le Groupe des Scouts Marins en Zurich était fondé
dans 1958. Le but était, et reste toujours, d’offrir
une expérience de partenariat de jeunesse dans la
Nature, et aussi de fournir un niveau raisonnable
de capacités de navigateur. Nous avons environ
150 membres actifs et passifs. Á ce moment nous
sommes les seuls Scouts Marins dans la Suisse. Le
point de départ pour nos aventures est notre base
marine, “Ithaka”, à Zurich.
Qui peut joindre?
Les filles et les garçons 6–11 années explorent le
monde dans les Louveteau. Leur territoire est
principalement la terre.
La section des Scouts est de 12 années, une
Troupe des garçons et une Troupe des filles. Ils
explorent le Zurichsee entre mars et octobre. Dans
l'Hiver ils entretiennent la flotte et ils explorent les
bois. Dans l'Eté il y a un programme de voile et de
motorboating. Nous sommes affiliés au Club
d'Eau, où nous apprenons à naviguer sur fleuve
coulant.

Les camps

mai à Vannes. Plus d’une trentaine de stagiaires,
encadrés par une équipe d'une dizaine de
formateurs

bénévoles,
a suivi des

théoriques
et pratiqué
intensiveme
nt la
manoeuvre
et la
navigation
entre les îles du Golfe du Morbihan sur une flotte
de 6 bateaux (en majorité des Kelt 6,20 du
groupe local).
A l’issue du stage, les candidats venus de toute la
France se sont soumis à l’examen (théorique et
pratique) devant un jury indépendant. 18 d'entre
eux ont obtenu le Brevet de Patron d'Embarcation
du Scoutisme Français et 7 le Brevet de Patron de
Flottille.
Un grand succès (numérique et qualitatif) qui signe
la nouvelle dynamique de la proposition marine
en France!”

session was
held April

23rd through May 1st in Vannes. More than thirty
trainees, coached by about 10 instructors and
other volunteers, attended theoretical classes and
intensely practiced manoeuvers and navigation
techniques between the islands of the Morbihan
Gulf in a fleet of six small cruising boats (mostly
Kelt 6.20 provided by the local group).
At the end of the session, the candidates from all
over France were subjected to a theoretical and
practical exam with an independent jury. Eighteen
candidates obtained the “French Scouting Skipper”
degree, and 7 the "Flotilla leader" degree.
This success (both in terms of numbers and quality)
marks the renewal of the Sea Scouting movement
in France!”
Boat Building and the “Sail Amsterdam”
project: Technical schools building boats
for Sea Scout groups

Our sponsors, Nederland Maritime Land and the
Province of Noord Holland, made it possible for
students in twelve Technical Schools to work on a
project called “Work at water.” This project has
various facets. The students visit nautical firms such
as a shipyard or water sport facility.
Another
aspect is to
learn boat
welding.
This is
accomplishe
d by
building a
Sea Scout
boat, the
Lelievlet.
Our
shipyard
makes a
steel
construction
kit to build a
Lelievlet
hull. Our building instructors visit the schools from
time-to-time to give help.
We combined this with a Sea Scout group project.
The Sea Scouts teach sailing and rowing to the
students in the schools. Additional Sea Scout
activities were added to encourage the Sea Scout
groups to have sailing activities with the schools.
This summer the Sea Scouts and students will
gather at “Sail Amsterdam” (the Tall Ships event)
on the weekend of 20 August. There will be the
final inspection of the twelve new Lelievlets.
Afterwards there will be a rowing regatta at the
Sail Amsterdam activity center. The Sea Scouts will
also stay the weekend and will sail with crews
from the Tall Ships.
After the joint Sea Scout school activities are
successfully completed, the new boats go to the
Sea Scouts. To win a new boat the Sea Scouts
must report on all their activities as a part of this
project. The Sea Scouts must also visit a nautical
factory as the students did.
Sea Scouts and the students building the boats
work together has generated lots of newspaper
and internet publicity. Each school receives a
camera and reports on progress on boat building.

Nos sponsors, Nederland Maritiemland et la
Province de Noord Hollande, ont fait possible
pour les étudiants dans douze Écoles Techniques
traiter un projet, “le Travail à l'eau”. Ce projet a
des divers tâches. Les étudiants visitent une
industrie nautique, par exemple une construction
navale ou un port de sport d'eau. Un autre tâche
est d’apprendre à souder un bateau d’acier. Ceci
est quand nous donnons l'instruction de construire
un bateau des Scouts Marins, le Lelievlet. Notre
chantier naval fait une trousse de construction
d'acier, donc c'est possible de construire une
coque pour un Lelievlet. Nos instructeurs visitent
les écoles de temps en temps pour aider les
étudiants.
Il y a aussi un projet pour les Scouts Marins. Ils
devaient enseigner la voile aux étudiants. Ceci a
commencé des autres activités de voile entre les
Scouts Marins et les étudiants.
L'étape prochaine est, que cet été les Scouts
Marins et les étudiants viennent ensemble à “Sail
Amsterdam” (l’événement des Grands Voiliers) sur
le weekend de 20 août. Il y aura la dernière

inspection du douze nouveaux Lelievlets, et après
ça, une régate d’aviron avec les étudiants au
Centre des
Activités de
“Sail
Amsterdam”
. Les Scouts
Marins
restent un
weekend
ensemble et
aussi ils
feront la
voile avec
les équipages des grands voiliers.
Aprés les activités des Scouts Marins et des
étudiants, les nouveaux bateaux vont aux Scouts
Marins. Pour gagner un nouveau bateau un
Group doit faire un rapport de toutes ses activités
pendant ce projet, y compris visiter une usine
nautique, comme les étudiants.
Pendant ce programme, les étudiants et les Scouts
Marins travaillent ensemble, il y avait beaucoup de
publicité dans les journals et sur l'internet. Chaque
école a reçu un camera et a fait un rapport du
progrès dans la construction du bateau.

Scouting to the present day.
From the very
early years the
Dublin Sea
Scouts used the
“East Coast
Skiff” as their
standard rowing
boat. This is a
22 ft (6.77
meters), clinkerbuilt, open
rowing boat and
eight are still in
use in Sea
Leaders were asked for their ideas about the type
and design of such a boat, and information about
other Sea Scout boats was obtained from
Netherlands, U.K. and New Zealand
All the information collected was sent to a marine
architect, Kevin MacLaverty, who had expressed
interest in our project. The result was a set of plans
for a new Sea Scout Boat, 18 feet (5.5m) over all,
capable of being rowed with 2, 4 or 6 oars, and
rigged for sail as a ketch or as a sloop.
The National Sea Scout Leaders’ Conference in
1977 adopted the design and established a
committee to pursue the matter further.
Sponsorship for making the mould and the first
hull was provided by the British Petroleum
Company, and therefore the class was named “BP
18. “

Du debut du Scoutisme, les Scouts Marins de
Dublin ont utilisé “le Skiff de Côte de l'est” comme
leur bateau normal. C’est un canot à rames de 22
ft (6,77 mètres), bordé à clins. Huit bateaux sont
toujours utilisé aujourd’hui.
Pendant 1976 il y avait une discussion parmi les
Chefs des Scouts Marins au sujet d'un nouveau
type de bateau, approprié pour la voile aussi. Les
responsables ont donné leurs idées du type et de
la conception d'un tel bateau, et nous avons
obtenu information des autres bateaux des Scouts
Marins des Pays Bas, du Royaume Uni et de
Nouvelle-Zélande.

Discovery Sailing Project
In the April issue of “Euronaut,” (no. 13) there was
an article about the Dockland Scout Project in
London. Part of this project is the “Discovery
Sailing Project,” which is responsible for coastal
and offshore sailing, using 2 sailing yachts.

German Sea Scouts Participate in Historic
Re-enactment of Emigration Voyage
The “Bremen”
During the mid19th century
there was a
great wave of
emigration from
Europe to North
America. An
1855
emigration
voyage from
Bremerhaven to New York was reproduced under
realistic conditions and produced as a television
program for the West German Broadcasting
Station project “Wind force 8.” The first part of the
program was broadcast on May 23 at 9:45 PM.

cinematic voyage back through time back to the
year 1855. Frank Jaecklein, a scout from VCP
Landshut in Bavaria and professional shipbuilder,
also participated in the journey.
Before the ‘Fridtjof Nansen’ left port on October
16, 2004, she was rebuilt into the emigration ship
‘Bremen.’ Everything was authentic to the mid-19th
century era. GPS, radar, and radio were only used
for verification. Otherwise the passage was
accomplished using of telescope, sextant, compass
– and windpower. The ship took the southern
route (through the passat) and arrived in New York
harbor after about 70 days.

scout de VCP Landshut joignait au voyage. Il est
un constructeur naval professionnel et
actuellement un compagnon voyageant.

En cadre du projet ‘Force du vent 8’ de la part de
la Radio Ouest-Allemand (WDR) on avait refait un
voyage sur mer des émigrants de Bremerhaven à
New York aux conditions réalistes de l’année
1855 – produit comme film pour la télévision. Le
premier part du filme était diffusé le 23 mai 2005

Avant que la ‘Fridtjof Nansen’ parte le 16 octobre
2004 et prenant la route de sud (route par le
passat) arrive après environ 70 jours au port de
New York, elle avait été transformée entre 8
semaines par des spécialistes en navire
d’émigrants ‘Brême’. Ainsi seulement les standards
de sécurité correspondaient aux ceux de l’année
2004. Le GPS et le radar ainsi que la radio et le
servo-moteur ne servait qu’au capitaine – à titre
de contrôle. D’ailleurs on faisait voile à l’aide du
téléscope, du sextant et au compas – et avec la
force du vent.

Camp Bockholm
Camp Bockholm is a training center for the
German Guides and Scouts Federations (RDP and
RdP). It is open for young people from all countries
who are interested in Sea Scouting and water
activities. The camp is situated on the Baltic coast
near Flensburg in the North of Germany, 54 /
50.6 ‘ north and 009/ 35.7’ east.
The aid association supporting the project
welcomes further members so that children and
young people could fully benefit from the huge
area and its fittings the sooner. Additional

Starfish-06 is a camp for Sea Scouts. Like the
starfish who has five limbs, the camp will have five
directions of marine activity. The Sea Scout
department of the Swedish Guide and Scout
Association invites new and old friends who share
their favorite hobby, scouting/guiding and sailing.
Who can attend? Scouts and Guides, must be 11
years old, able to swim 200 meters and
accompanied by leaders. The camp will be held
on the Scout island of Vässarö – see Euronaut
issue 13 for a description of the island.

Comme l’étoile de mer avec 5 bras, le camp aura
5 directions d’activité marin. Le departiment du
Scoutisme Marin des Scouts et Guides de la Suéde
invite les nouveaux et les vieux amis qui participent
à leur passe-temps préférés, le scoutisme et la
voile.
Qui peut assister? Les Scouts et les Guides, qui
doivent avoir 11 ans, et qui sont capable de nager
200 mètres et qui sont accompagné par des
responsables. Le camp sera sur Île de Vässarö –

Cup 2006

The 3rd Biennial Regatta for the William I. Koch
International Sea Scout Cup, will be held at the
Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, Florida, July 23rd
to 29th, 2006
The event will be open to U.S. participants,
currently registered as Sea Scouts in BSA by 1st
January 2006, and to international participants
who are currently registered as members of a
Scouting Association of WOSM. All youth
participants must be at least 14 years of age, and
less than 21 years of age on 23rd July 2006.
The five-day event will be held on the waters of
Biscayne Bay using Vanguard 420’s without
spinnakers. Class rules will not apply.
Scholarships will be available to pay for airfare,
lodging and event fees. To qualify, applicants
must obtain permission to apply to compete in
the Regatta from their own scouting organizations.

Sea Scout Armada to the World Jamboree
in England 2007

In July/August 2007 the World Jamboree will be
organized in SE England.
The actual campsite is not situated by the sea, but
this fact should not exclude Sea Scouts from
Europe to try to sail their way to this important
event!
The Sea Scout armada to the Netherlands in 1995
was a great success, and the Norwegian
organizers hope for a repetition in the summer of
2007.
Our idea is that Sea Scout boats start from their
home-ports, and join in with other boats along the
route on their way to London. Thus the number of
boats will increase as we get closer to to the
Jamboree. Hopefully, there will be a big armada
of sea-scouts sailing together up the Thames a few
days prior to the opening of the jamboree.
Our preliminary plan is to start sailing from South
Norway two weeks earlier: sail South on the
Eastern side of Denmark, through the Kieler-kanal,
along the Frisian Islands and then go inland on
canals. The last leg will be to sail across the
English Channel to the Thames estuary and reach
London.
The Norwegian boats will probably sail home
across the North Sea directly for South Norway,
and we plan for a week’s sailing on this leg.
We hope for company on this voyage, and look
forward to co-operation in planning and
preparation for the event.

Flotte de Scouts Marins au Jamboree en
Angleterre

De nouveau, les Scouts Marins de la Norvège ont
proposé l’idée de créer une flotte de scouts marins
pour le Jamboree mondial de 2007 en Angleterre.
Malheureusement le terrain du Jamboree n’est pas
au bord de la mer, mais ceci ne devrait pas nous
empecher d’essayer d’arriver à proximité du
Jamboree.
La flotte de scouts marin aux Pays-Bas en 1995
était un grand success, et les organisateurs
norvègiens espérent avoir une repetition en été
2007.
Selon notre idée, les bateaux des scouts marins
devraient commencer de leurs ports d’attache et
se joindre aux autres bateaux le long de la route.
Ainsi le nombre de bateaux augmentera au fur et
à mesure que nous nous approcherons du
Jamboree. On espére qu’ une grande flotte
voyagera le long de la Tamise jusqu’à Londres.
Notre plan preliminaire serait de partir de la
Norvège deux semaines à l’avance, et nous
voyagerons au sud, au bord de la côte est du
Danemark, à travers le Canal de Kiel, le long des
Îles Frisonnes , les canaux des Pays Bas et enfin
traverser la Manche.
Après le Jamboree, les bateaux norvègiens
retournerous probablement directement en
Norvège, et nous prevoyons que le voyage durera
environ une semaine.

NAWAKA is the National Water Kamp of Scouting
Nederland, which is organised every 4 years. The
last NAWAKA was held in 2002, and the next will
take place near Rheden, northeast of Arnhem in
the province of Gelderland from 24 July to 3
August 2006.

EUROSEA 8
“EUROSEA” is the name given to the triennial
Seminar for Sea Scout Leaders in Europe, which
first started in 1985. The next Seminar will be the
ninth, and will be held in Finland in 2006.
The dates for Eurosea 8 will be 14 Jun to 18 Jun
2006, in the Turku archipelago, Finland. Full
details will be available later.

“Euronaut” in the future, e.g. news of events that
have taken place recently (competitions, camps,
regattas, etc), with a couple of photographs if
possible.
“Future Events” is a regular article, in which we
hope to keep you up-to-date with information
about Sea Scout and other important or interesting
up-coming events in the next 2 – 3 years. But we
cannot provide this information unless somebody
tells us about it.

The highest Sea Scouts in Europe? In this issue
there is an article about the Sea Scouts of Zurich.
The Zurichsee is 406 meters above sea level and
this raises an interesting question. Are the
Seepfadis of Zurich the highest Sea Scouts in
Europe (or perhaps in the world)? Are there any
other claimants to this title? [There are Sea Scouts
in Colorado at the 1800 meter level. They call
themselves the “Anhydrous (which means “no
water” Sea Scout Fleet.”]
