We prove that every Einstein metric on asymptotic to the Bergmann metric is equal to it up to a diffeomorphism. The proof relies on the construction of a solution of Seiberg–Witten equations in this infinite volume setting. Therefore, and more generally, if is a manifold with a CR–boundary at infinity, an adapted –structure which has a non zero Kronheimer–Mrowka invariant and an asymptotically complex hyperbolic Einstein metric, we produce a solution of Seiberg–Witten equations with an strong exponential decay property. c 2002 Académie des sciences/Éditions scientifiques et médicales Elsevier SAS Abridged English version 1. Yann Rollin with <>=@? and : bounded in ACB –norm with respect to the metric 1 2 "D$&E;F 4HG*I F 'KJLE*0MNF 4HG*I F 'E*0M!PO From the definition, ACH metrics are complete and of infinite volume. Now, if we note E the distance to a point of with respect to 1 , we obtain again the property (1) up to multiplication of ! by a conformal parameter. Therefore, we can define the conformal infinity of the ACH metric 1 to be equal to the conformal class Q !SR . In the case of the complex hyperbolic plane TPU F , realized as the unit ball VWYXT F endowed with the Bergmann metric 1Z , we have ["]\ "^(V . Hence, the boundary \ carries a standard CR–structure induced by the embedding in T F . We note _ the euclidian distance to the center of the ball, E/"a`LbdcLe I _ and we define the contact –form f"gh-i$j_lkN'mJn_N0 , which is compatible with the CR–distribution and the \Wo – r action of the Hopf bundle \paq TPsto . One can check that 1 Z "u1 2 if we choose !"v$jw';)x+y-/)z0"v{t| 1~} , N 1 } where is the Fubini–Study metric of TPso . Thus, the conformal class Q {| 1~} R on the standard CR– distribution is called the st andard conformal infinity of \h . Recall that smooth compact quotients of the complex hyperbolic plane TPU F carry a unique Einstein metric up to a diffeomorphism and a constant parameter. This result was proved by Le Brun [7] using Seiberg–Witten theory. In infinite volume, strictly pseudo-convex domains of T F (an more generally of T ) carry a unique ACH Kähler–Einstein metric up to a biholomorphism and a constant parameter [5] ; by analogy with the compact case, the difficult question of their uniqueness as Einstein metrics is raised. We solve this problem on the ball in Theorem 1. However, Biquard constructs a family of ACH Einstein metrics on V# for each small deformation Q !R of the standard conformal infinity of \ . Therefore, the conformal infinity must be fixed in order to obtain a uniqueness result. 2. Main results. T HEOREM 1. – Let 1 be an Einstein metric on the unit ball VWXT F . Suppose that 1 is asymptotic to the Bergmann metric 1Z in the sense that there exists < =@? such that near infinity we have 1 " 1 Z 4H6 78;9 : + where E is the distance to a point with respect to 1 Z and : is bounded in AWB Then there exists a diffeomorphism of VW such that | 1 " 1 Z . (2) norm with respect to 1 Z . The assumption (2) is equivalent to restrict to ACH metrics with standard conformal infinity of \W . Our main tool is an existence result of a solution of Seiberg–Witten equations for a manifold endowed with an ACH Einstein metric. Recall that in [6], Kronheimer and Mrowka associate a Seiberg–Witten invariant \['xj0 to any / –structure on adapted to the contact structure of the boundary at infinity . Following Biquard and Herzlich, we can define a formal ACH Kähler–Einstein metric 'd1 + - 0 on the end of so that - is compatible with the CR–structure of the boundary. In the case of the complex hyperbolic plane, we do not need all this material because we have 1 "1 2 " 1 Z . Moreover, if 1 is ACH Einstein, we can suppose that up to a diffeomorphism 1 g 1 "W' 6 7 9 0 (cf. [3] cor. lO J ). Let be a -structure compatible with the contact structure ; this means that is isomorphic on the end of to the canonical –structure & induced by - . Let '~+0 be the standard solution of ¦¥ § £ ¦¥ F and Seiberg–Witten equations for the Kähler–Einstein metric 1 where "v'm g Z +d?&0¢¡¤£ is the Chern connection induce by 'd1 + - 0 on the anti-canonical line bundle. T HEOREM 2. – Let v be a manifold endowed with an ACH Einstein metric 1 and an adapted *S¨ – structure whose Kronheimer–Mrowka invariant \['xj0 is non zero. Then, Seiberg–Witten equations for 2 Rigidité d’Einstein du plan hyperbolique complexe and the metric 1 ©hª «5ª ¬ " " ? N'0®O g# and their derivatives decay as W' 6 7° ¬±K² 9 0 for some ³´=@? . 7 o , µ Remark that the assumption on 1 to be Einstein is needed only to get extra informations on the asymptotic behavior of 1 and that we could for example replace 1 in the last theorem by any metric close up to a W' 6 7° ¬±K¶,² 9 0 for some ³y·i=¸? . µ It would be interesting to justify the existence of the solution by a Seiberg–Witten theory developed admit a solution such that @¯ directly for ACH Einstein metrics. µ More generally, Theorem 2 should be a useful tool to find links between CR–geometry of and fillings of by ACH Einstein metrics. For example, under the assumptions of Theorem 2, we have the following Miyaoka–Yau inequality [2] ?W¹@º'm]0Pg»j¼i'K]0 4¸½ K' ^ B ]0" ¾ { F ¿lÀÂÁ ÄF Ä »SÃ Ä 7 à F´gDÃ Ä ¬ à F 4 nJ ÅÆ#ÇjÈjÉ + (3) where %Ä Ê are the components of the Weyl curvature and ½ is the invariant of the CR–structure at infinity of introduced in [3] (where the r.h.s. identity of (3) and its convergence is established). Moreover the equality holds if and only if 1 is the complex hyperbolic metric. 1. Remerciements.
