O Sel Ling Retreat Centre is set high in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains near the historic
city of Granada in the south of Spain. In the boundaries of a national/natural park, the rustic
environment offers an ideal place to meditate and a peaceful place to work.
O Sel Ling is delighted to offer the following work opportunities:
Retreat Centre Caretaker
This is a full time position for a responsible and active person to manage the buildings and the
land of this mountain based rural centre.
Responsibilities include: general maintenance of the grounds and traditionally built houses,
private water system, stand-alone solar power electrical system and generators, paths, tracks etc,
supervise volunteers and hired trades people.
Skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and grounds maintenance plus a full driving
license would be a great asset.
This position would be for a minimum of 6 months preferably longer, reporting to the Centre
Manager.
Assistant Centre Manager
This is a full time position for a flexible, and resourceful person to help and sometimes cover the
Centre Manager’s role in their absence; a team worker who is prepared to take a hands-on role to
a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities include:
• Assisting the Centre Manager in coordinating and liaising with housekeeping, caretaker
and volunteers.
• Assisting with the preparation and reception of retreat/course attendants and visitors.
• Day to day communications including phone, fax, email and website correspondence.
• Assist in the organisation of the office including filing, stationery, maintenance of
computers and other office equipment.
• Assist with the Centre’s grocery and provisions shopping.
Great personal, communication and team skills as well as basic computer and office skills would
be preferable.
This position would be for a minimum of 6 months preferably longer, reporting to the Centre
Manager.
Cook
This is a full time position for an enthusiastic person who enjoys cooking vegetarian meals for
10-20 people or up to 50 during programmed courses.
Responsibilities include managing and administering a fully equipped kitchen, supervising the
assistant cooks and volunteers, planning the daily menu including any special dietary needs of
retreat/course attendants.
All the posts listed above are residential and based on a six-day working week.
Remuneration:
Monthly allowance after 6 months volunteering
Free board and lodging
Free access to teachings and retreats when possible
