BODYLANGUAGE ³ 3) “Gegen Die Wand” 4) Theatre of Volker Lösch 5) RESEO Dance Space 6) RESEO Productions Space 1) Workshop World Music Theatre Date: Thursday, 01 March Time: 14:00-­‐ 18:00 Elastic Theatre offers a variety of workshops that draw on the creative methodology employed by the company and on Jacek Ludwig Scarso’s training method, articulated in his book Voce per ogni Giorno, published in Italy by Armando Editore. In World Music Theatre, internationally acclaimed director Jacek Ludwig Scarso introduces participants to the possibility of creating music theatre from improvisation, through a contemporary re-­‐visitation of world traditions in music and theatre. This workshop is primarily intended for singers/performers, but it is open to the general public and tailored accordingly. Through a wide range of creative exercises, including cross-­‐cultural voice-­‐work, acting and movement, participants are given a selection of vocal music extracts and theatrical scenarios from the company’s repertoire to improvise from. They then develop work on structuring their improvisation material and creating short interdisciplinary performances. The emphasis of this workshop is on utilising cultural diversity as a tool to re-­‐define the boundaries of traditional forms of opera and music theatre. This ethos is inherent to Elastic Theatre’s work and reflected in the range of backgrounds of our company collaborators. 2) THE MAKING OF... BODYLANGUAGE ³ Date: Friday, 02 March Time: 16:00-­‐ 17:15 The youth project THE MAKING OF... BODYLANGUAGE ³ was created to give school children exposure to contemporary dance and to provide insight into the working methods of two very different contemporary choreographers: Marco Goecke, resident choreographer of the Stuttgart Ballet and one of the most unique voices in European dance, and Mauro Bigonzetti, internationally renowned choreographer who has created several new works for the Stuttgart Ballet. Both choreographers have a distinctive movement vocabulary or “body language”. The focus of the project is to explain and study choreographic processes based on the creation of two new works for the Stuttgart Ballet. The children are encouraged to create their own “body language” as well as to decipher what each choreographer is saying with his. To make this project physically experienceable for the RESEO conference members, former Stuttgart Ballet dancer and dance pedagogue Marieke Lieber, who worked directly with Marco Goecke and Mauro Bigonzetti, will lead an intensive workshop showing how she works with the teenagers on this special project to de-­‐
mystify contemporary dance and challenge the viewing habits of the students. 3) “Gegen die Wand” Date: Friday, 02 March Time: 16:00-­‐ 17:15 Based on the script of the acclaimed film by Fatih Akin, the German composer Ludger Vollmer created the first bilingual opera in German and Turkish. Scores of energetic music, using classical orchestra instruments as well as Turkish instruments such as Kaval and Saz, mirror the desperate search of the young Germans of Turkish descent, Sibel and Cahit, for a psychological and physical “homeland”. In cooperation with the composer, musicians, theatre educators and dramaturgue, the participants create their own versions of specific scenes of the piece, are offered insights into the philosophy and the development process behind the compositions of Ludger Volmers, and discover key parts of the staging of the opera by Neco Celik on video, a staging which has been awarded the prestigious Faust theatre prize. Working methods are Scenic interpretation as well as “Klangszenenspiel”, the latter having been developed by the Junge Oper Stuttgart. 4) Theatre of Volker Lösch Date: Friday, 02 March Time: 16:00-­‐ 17:15 The Citizens’ Chorus – Spokesperson and advocate of its own affairs This workshop will focus on the approaches used in two intercultural theatre projects (MEDEA and WUT) (“ANGER”). Both projects employed a chorus as a means of theatrical expression for amateurs on stage. How can so-­‐called “high culture” come together with socio-­‐educational work with populations far from the world of theatre? Can long-­‐term effects be observed-­‐ and if yes: what are these effects? How can classical theatrical repertoire be combined with social initiative and engagement? 5) RESEO Dance Space Date: Friday, 02 March Time: 17:30 – 18:30 The RESEO Dance Space, inaugurated in May 2011, provides a platform for those members interested in dance education to exchange points of view, common challenges and discuss activities. Virtual meetings have been taking place on a monthly basis, focusing on topics chosen by the participating members. The RESEO Dance Space is open to ALL RESEO members – with or without practical dance experience – whether or not you have already participated in the virtual chat meetings. The RESEO Dance Space is led by Clare West, dance teacher, individual RESEO member and member of the Steering Committee. 6) RESEO Productions Space Date: Friday, 02 March Time: 17:30 – 18:30 Co-­‐productions and the touring of works for young audiences and other specific target groups remain an exception. This may either be the result of the cultural specificity of these works-­‐ or maybe just the lack of opportunity and necessary funding. RESEO thus actively supports the many members interested in touring their works or planning co-­‐productions via the RESEO Productions Space. This working group aims at exchanging know-­‐how and actively bringing together those who wish to work together on productions. The RESEO Productions Space is led by Marga Wobma-­‐Helmich, education manager De Nederlandse Opera, and member of the RESEO Steering Committee. Workshop World Music Theatre THE MAKING OF... BODYLANGUAGE ³ “Gegen Die Wand” Theatre of Volker Lösch L’Espace Danse de RESEO L’Espace Production de RESEO 1) Workshop World Music Theatre er
Date: Jeudi 1 mars Horaire: 14:00-­‐ 18:00 Elastic Theatre offre un éventail d’ateliers basés sur la méthodologie créative employée par la compagnie et sur la méthode d’apprentissage développée par Jacek Ludwig Scarso dans son ouvrage « Voce per ogni Giorno » publié en Italie par Armando Editore. Dans « World Music Theatre », le metteur en scène internationalement reconnu Jacek Ludwig Scarso, offre aux participants la possibilité de créer un spectacle musical à partir de l’improvisation, à travers une exploration contemporaine de traditions musicales et théâtrales du monde entier. Cet atelier est initialement conçu pour les chanteurs/artistes, mais il peut également être réadapté pour un public plus général. A travers une grande variété d’exercices créatifs comprenant un travail vocal transculturel, le jeu et le mouvement, les participants se voient donner une sélection d’extraits vocaux, musicaux et de scénarios théâtraux issus du répertoire de la compagnie, avec lesquels ils doivent improviser. Ils doivent alors travailler sur la structuration de leur matériel d’improvisation et créer de courts spectacles interdisciplinaires. Cet atelier met l’accent sur l’utilisation de la diversité culturelle comme un outil pour la redéfinition des frontières des formes traditionnelles de l’opéra et du théâtre musical. Cette philosophie est inhérente au travail de Elastic Theatre et se reflète dans la diversité des milieux d’origines des collaborateurs de la compagnie. La durée de l’atelier est négociable et détermine bien sûr la profondeur du travail accompli. 2) THE MAKING OF... BODYLANGUAGE ³ Date: Vendredi 2 mars Horaires: 16:00-­‐ 17:15 Le projet pour jeunes THE MAKING OF… BODYLANGUAGE ³ a été créé pour mettre en contact les enfants avec la danse contemporaine et pour leur donner les clés des méthodes de travail de deux chorégraphes: Marco Goecke, chorégraphe résident au Stuttgart Ballet et l’une des voix les plus singulières de la danse en Europe, et Mauro Bigonzetti, chorégraphe internationalement reconnu qui a créé plusieurs projets pour le Stuttgart Ballet. Ces deux chorégraphes on un vocabulaire du mouvement ou « langage du corps » différents. Ce projet vise à expliquer et étudier les processus chorégraphiques en se basant sur la création de deux nouvelles oeuvres pour le Stuttgart Ballet. Les enfants sont encouragés à créer leur propre « langage du corps » ainsi qu’à déchiffrer ce que chaque chorégraphe a voulu dire par ce biais. Pour faire en sorte que ce projet soit expérimenté par les membres de RESEO, l’ancienne danseuse du Stuttgart Ballet et actuelle pédagogue Marieke Lieber, qui a travaillé directement avec Marco Goecke et Mauro Bigonzetti, dirigera un atelier où elle montrera comment elle travaille avec les jeunes sur ce projet de démystification de la danse contemporaine et se confronte aux représentations des élèves. 3) « Gegen die Wand » Date: Vendredi 2 mars Horaires: 16:00-­‐ 17:15 Sur la base du script du très acclamé film de Fatih Akin, le compositeur allemand Ludger Vollmer a créé le premier opéra bilingue allemand-­‐turc. La partition énergique, qui utilise à la fois des instruments d’un orchestre classique et des instruments turcs (comme le kaval et le saz), reflète la recherche désespérée de Sibel et Cahit, jeunes allemands d’origine turque, pour un refuge psychologique et physique. En collaboration avec le compositeur, les musiciens, les metteurs en scène et les dramaturges, les participants ont créé leurs propres versions à partir de passages spécifiques tirés de l’oeuvre et sont invités à découvrir la philosophie et le processus inhérents aux compositions de Ludger Volmer ainsi que des points clé de la mise en scène de l’opéra avec Neco Celik en vidéo (il a obtenu pour cette mise en scène le prestigieux prix de théâtre Faust). Les méthodes de travail relèvent de l’interprétation scénique ainsi que du “Klangszenenspiel”, développé par le Junge Oper Stuttgart. 4) Theatre of Volker Lösch Date: Vendredi 2 mars Horaires: 16:00-­‐ 17:15 Les choeurs de citoyens : porte-­‐paroles et défenseurs de leurs propres causes Cet atelier mettra l’accent sur les approches de deux projets théâtraux interculturels (MEDEA et WUT). Ces deux projets ont utilisé un choeur comme moyen d’expression théâtrale pour les amateurs sur scène. Comment la présumée “haute culture” peut-­‐elle se combiner avec le travail socio-­‐éducatif à l’attention de personnes d’un univers très éloigné de celui du théâtre? Des effets à long terme peuvent-­‐ils être observés – et si oui quels sont-­‐ils? Comment un répertoire théâtral classique peut-­‐il être combiné avec une initiative et un engagement social ? 5) L’Espace Danse de RESEO Date: Vendredi 2 mars Horaire: 17:30 – 18:30 L’Espace Danse de RESEO, inauguré en mai 2011, offre aux membres intéressés par la sensibilisation à la danse, une plateforme d’expression qui leur permet d’échanger des points de vue, des défis communs et qui leur donne la possibilité de discuter de leurs activités respectives. Des rencontres virtuelles ont lieu mensuellement depuis mai dernier. Elles se basent sur des sujets de discussion choisis par les membres participants. L’Espace Danse de RESEO est ouvert à TOUS -­‐ avec ou sans expérience dans le domaine de la danse -­‐, que vous ayez ou non déjà participé aux rencontres virtuelles. L’Espace Danse de RESEO est mené par Clare West, professeur de danse, membre du Conseil d’Administration de RESEO en qualité de membre individuel. 6) L’Espace Production de RESEO Date: Vendredi 2 mars Horaire: 17:30 – 18:30 Les co-­‐productions et la diffusion de spectacles dédiés au jeune public et/ou à d’autres groupes spécifiques restent encore difficiles. La raison vient certainement des spécificités culturelles de ces productions, mais aussi du manque d’opportunités et de fonds nécessaires. Les productions étant au cœur du travail de nombreux membres, RESEO a décidé de soutenir ce domaine en créant L’Espace Production de RESEO. Ce groupe de travail a pour but d’échanger un savoir-­‐faire et de rassembler de façon active ceux qui souhaitent travailler ensemble sur des productions. L’Espace Production de RESEO est dirigé par Marga Wobma-­‐Helmich, directrice du service éducatif de Het Muziektheater Amsterdam (NL) et membre du Conseil d’Administration de RESEO.
