« Le Festival International des Arts de la Rue de Chassepierre »
(Belgium) With its 42nd edition, Chassepierre is the oldest festival in
Europe dedicated to street arts. This festival welcomes each year, in the
small typical village of 200 inhabitants, between Orval and Bouillon, some
50 professional companies from around the world. Artists excel in many
different domains of street arts: theater, dance, circus, music, puppets,
plastic art... Surprise, innovation, achievement, fantasy and humor are
the hallmarks of this festival that can be enjoyed both alone or with
family. Sitting on the grass or on the benches, in streets, fields and
squares, feet in the water of the river, the audience is transported to a
strange universe of dreams and fantasies. The festival offers also a craft
and regional food market. It is a meeting place for lovers of street art but
also for the curious who want to discover this universe...
Short
description
« Le Citron Jaune » (France) “Le Citron Jaune” is an influent National
centre dedicated to produce artwork in public spaces through residencies,
art commissioning, festival curating & community projects. Artists
welcomed for residencies at “Le Citron Jaune” are given time and
space to research and create. This is made available to them
whether it be for writing, building, rehearsing, experimenting or
performing in front of the public for the first time. Numbers of
events and festivals have been invented by the Citron Jaune, in
order to ensure that the street arts are part of the territorial reality.
One of them is Les Envies Rhônements : an international biennial
event, dedicated to environmental art and site specific creations
(performing & visual art), taking place in the Rhone delta region.
The festival promotes new art forms, an interdisciplinary approach,
new relationships with the audience and has set up special tools to
help young artists. Partnerships have been set up with natural
reserves and patrimonial places to allow artists to explore new
areas, new kind of “playground”, and to invite the audience to
discover new sites.
« Le Pôle National Cirque et Arts de la Rue d’Amiens » (France)
« Le Pôle National Cirque et Arts de la Rue d’Amiens » is a structure
composed of three entities: the “Cirque Jules Verne”, the “Hangar –
Fabrique des arts de la rue”, “l’Ecole du Cirque Jules Verne the Cirque
Jules Verne– Centre régional de formation professionnelle”. The mission
is to create a dynamic in Picardy around the circus arts and street,
focused on supporting the creation, dissemination, artistic and cultural
proximity action and training.
The street arts is developed by the « Hangar », production structure
whose action is part of the entire national network of mills and National
Centres of Street Arts, whose project is based on the possibility of
resonance practices and expertise by inviting artists with contemporary
vision of their art, aware of the importance of the relationship and the
relationship to be established between their work, people, public space
and city.
Each season the « Hangar » welcomes a dozen companies and produces
projects which are carried out in-situ: the shows are created in a district,
or territory, with the involvement and active participation of the
inhabitants. In terms of distribution, the « Hangar » produces the festival
« La Rue est à Amiens / Fête dans la ville, program on « Confluence
Nomades » (circus and street arts programming in Picardy between May
to September) and implements other one-time events. The « Hangar » is
also partner of the European network ZEPA
« Le Domaine départemental de Chamarande » (France) The
Departmental Domain of Chamarande is a unique landscape and cultural
heritage site of its kind. In 2001, the General Council of Essonne wanted
to make this iconic site, a cultural facility in charge of "reconnecting
contemporary art with its natural environment." Located at the
geographical heart of Essonne, the site is an ideal place to experience
interviewing skills and etiquette related to our natural environment. The
project is conceived as a laboratory for all, the artist and the society are
part and act in co-creation, in a spirit of "sustainable culture." The
ambition is to allow everyone to capture this remarkable site, assigning it
a true mission of social bond in time, between generations, and space
between citizens. To do this, the choice was made to achieve a synthesis
between the valorization of our heritage.
