This is a list of recommended books that are closely aligned with your child’s current reading level. Please keep in
mind that these are only suggestions as there is quite a selection of books available in book stores and libraries.
You may also find these books online. In the past, I have had a lot of luck purchasing them on
amazon.ca. Amazon.ca has great offerings at very reasonable prices. It is well worth checking out.
If you are looking for magazines, there are many popular ones. Here are a
few that the students love!!
OKAPI & les DEBROUILLARDS.
Reading level 17-18

Any book from the Oui-Oui series, written by Enid Blyton.
These books are full of fun, mystery and adventure that take place in a make-believe land. The main character is
Oui-Oui, the wooden puppet with the wiggly head. English readers may recognize him as Noddy. I highly
recommend it!

Any of the Walt Disney books such as:
Blanche Neige
from the Album des étoiles Deux Coqs d’Or Walt Disney

Any of the Martine books, that are in the collection Farandole
Reading level 19-22

The Noémie series, written by Gilles Tibo
Noémie, the young heroine of this series befriends an unliky person, an older lady, named Madame Lumbago. Le
secret de Madame Lumbago, received Canada’s Governor General’s literary award. Comes highly recommended!


For all of those lovers of fairies out there, comes the series called La maison des fees. Lots of adventure to help the
fairies understand friendship and mission!



multi-faceted style of text, that includes comic strips
very comical with three regular characters

Contes et légendes
Children’s stories from around the world, as they appear in the Milan poche collection. Les contes de l’Algérie sounds
good!

Also, there are books about different places in the world.
Milan Poche offers J’explore le monde. Looks like a fair number of these books are a very recent edition; they came
out this year.




Any of the children’s books by Roald Dahl ( i.e. Charlie et la chocolaterie, Sacrées Sorcières)
Reading level: 30 and greater

The Tintin series, written by Hergé
comic strip adventures involving the young man Tintin , his dog Milou and a whole host of hilarious regular
characters that discover different lands and adventures that lie within.

The Club des Cinq series, written by Enid Blyton.
Bibliothèque Rose collection
a host of adventures as experienced by a group of 4 detective children and their dog

Les petites filles modèles, Les Vacances, and Les malheurs de Sophie
These are a trilogy of books written by Contesse de Ségur.
