Fall back into your healthy routine | Retomber dans une routine saine
After a beautiful summer in the French River area, we are slowly getting back into
our routines ­ the perfect time to form new habits and incorporate healthy choices into
our daily lives. Come join a community program or register to be a patient if you don't
already have a primary care provider. Give us your feedback at our town hall meeting
and help us continue to offer patient centered care and programs. Learn about all this
and more in this months newsletter below!
Après un bel été dans la région de la Rivière des Français, nous revenons
lentement dans nos routines ­ le moment idéal pour former de nouvelles habitudes et
intégrer des choix sains dans notre vie quotidienne. Venez vous joindre à un de
nos programmes communautaires ou inscrivez­vous pour être un patient si vous ne
possédez pas déjà un fournisseur de soins primaires. Venez nous donner vos

Address the recruitment and retention crisis of Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
in Ontario by harmonizing wages and addressing pay inequity.
Every Ontarian is entitled to access high quality health care in their own community. NPs provide this
essential service. At the moment one in five community NP positions is vacant, because NPs are taking
jobs in other settings such as hospitals, long term care and Community care access centers where the
compensation rate is much higher. Community NPs have had their wages frozen since 2006. We
already know that the best health care systems in the world are built on a foundation of strong primary
care. At a time when the government is promoting ‘care close to home’, our primary care sector has
become a revolving door! Ontarians can't get access to community care and are being forced to use the
emergency department for needs that are better looked after in the community. SIGN THE PETITION
The French River Community Gardens project has launched with great success this year! With twenty raised beds
in five locations across the municipality, this initiative has even encouraged residents to build raised vegetable
gardens at home. The community garden concept allows members to share knowledge and learn from each other
throughout the growing season. It allows them to troubleshoot issues and celebrate successes with each other while
allowing them to grow their own small vegetable garden for their consumption.
I'd like to thank all members of the steering committee, all the volunteers that were crucial in this first year, our
gardeners and our funders ­ the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. I
would also like to thank the many local businesses that have made it possible to see a project of this size take off
and enable our expansion for next season.
Le projet des Jardins communautaires de la Rivière des Français jardins communautaires a entamé avec grand
succès cette année! Avec vingt lits surélevés dans cinq endroits à travers la municipalité, cette initiative a même
encouragé certains habitants à construire des jardins potagers soulevées à la maison. Le concept des jardins
communautaires permet aux membres de partager leurs connaissances et d'apprendre les uns des autres tout au
long de la saison jardinière. Il leur permet de résoudre les problèmes et de célébrer les succès les uns avec les
autres tout en leur permettant de développer leur propre petit jardin de légumes pour leur consommation. Je tiens à remercier tous les membres du comité directeur, tous les bénévoles qui ont été essentiels dans cette
première année, nos jardiniers et nos bailleurs de fonds ­ la Fondation Trillium de l'Ontario et la Fondation TD des
amis de l'environnement. J'aimerais aussi remercier les nombreuses entreprises locales qui ont fait possible de voir
un projet de cette taille décoller et qui permettra une croissance pour la saison prochaine.
