Tasters Guild 2000 Chatteauneuf du Pape Tasting At Brasserie Beck, Thursday October 24, 2013 7:00 pm 1101 K Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005 We will have a 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape tasting at Brasserie Beck, October 24, 2013. 2000 was in the middle of a series of great vintages from 1998-2001. The Rhone has never seen such a run of great vintages like this. We will start with a white aperitif from Pierre Usseglio and then have ten reds in three flights with a menu designed by Brian McBride at Brasserie Beck. Many of our wines are from the top domaines of the vintage and received high scores. Cost of the dinner tasting is $185 per person. Our third tasting of the fall will be a 1998 15th Anniversary tasting of Barolos, Barbarescos and Super Tuscans. Several of them are in magnums. This was a super vintage and the wines, particularly in a magnum format are just coming around. The tasting will be before Thanksgiving at either Fiola or Casa Luca. Some of the Barolo magnums are Bric del Fiasc (P. Scavino), Sori Ginestra (Conterno-Fontino), Nei Cannubi (L. Einudi). There is some Solengo from Argiano and some Sassicaia as well and some Bianello.
