Teacher : Mlle GUILLOIS, HS Room 204 ext. 5480 Email : aguillois@g-cacegypt.org Flex periods A, B & H Wiki: http://cacfrancais1314.pbworks.com Course Description : The main focus of this course is on language acquisition and development in the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. French 2 builds on prior knowledge of French acquired in French 1. The goal is to learn how to communicate effectively in a number of situations in a francophone context. In addition to the French language, French and other French-‐speaking cultures will be explored. Instruction will be in French. Students are expected to become independent learners and to communicate in French inside the classroom. Homework will be given most days to practice skills learned in class. Class expectations : Be respectful. Be prepared. Be on time. Be attentive. Be positive and patient with yourself and others as the class learns. Students are expected to come on time and prepared for class. This means having the appropriate materials for class (see Class Materials), having their homework done at the beginning of class and in general being ready to participate in the activities for that day. Students bringing their laptops are expected to have them charged before class and have all unnecessary windows closed (Facebook, Tweeter…). In addition to following the CAC core values, rules and policies, students must also respect each other’s efforts in learning a new language and not be critical of one another. Class materials : Students should bring the following with them to class each day: •

If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to check Moodle / the class wiki prior to returning to check what was missed in class and what homework was assigned. It is THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to turn in late homework. Homework will be checked at the beginning of class. Daily homework (not projects) will be graded out of a total of 5 points based on the level of completion. In some cases, students may receive an additional grade based on the quality of the work. Students failing to submit their homework on time will receive a 0 for the assignment, since the answers to the homework will be covered after the homework check is complete. Non-‐daily homework, such as projects, will be marked 10% lower for each day that it is late. After 3 days, students can still submit their work for review but will receive no credit (0%) for the assignment. Grading Policy :
