de Recherche en Design d'interieur de l'Est),
vice-president du comite executif de I' APDIQ
(Association des designers d'interieur du Quebec),
actif dans la promotion de la releve en design
d'interieur.

que cet evemement devrait occuper au sein
du design commercial et institutionnel,
domaine ou je professe. Au fil des annees,
les grands manufacturiers se sont concentres
sur Chicago au detriment de villes comme
New York, Toronto ou Montreal.

Throughout the years, the big manufacturers
concentrated their efforts on Chicago to the
detriment of cities like New York, Toronto
or Montreal. Events like NeoCon in Chicago
require major investment. For two or three years
now, thanks to efforts made by the City and

a se repositionner. Nous savons deja
que les activites creees par I'organisation
du SIDIM amplifient cette nouvelle attitude.
Les initiatives du SIDIM, Montreal ville
UNESCO de Design, et des differentes
organisations internationales regroupees
a Montreal devraient redonner a cette ville
la place qui lui revient. La presence du SIDIM
ne peut qu'alimenter cette effervescence
de ce milieu creatif quebecois ."

of some of the big manufacturers. The economy
also helps the SIDIM in repositioning itself.
We already know that the activities devised
by SIDIM organizers amplify this new attitude.
Initiatives by the SIDIM, Montreal UNESCO
City of Design and the various international
organizations located in Montreal should give
this city the place it deserves. The presence
of the SIDIM can only feed this effervescence
in the Quebec creative community. "
