SEASON OF LENT Saturday, July 26, 2014 DATE of ST-ANNE’S TH 100 Anniversary Celebrations 1914-2014 (more info to follow) KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 2641 The next Knights of Columbus Executive meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the basement hall at Saint-Anne’s Parish. The next Regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Sunday, March 2, 2014 – Most of us don’t consciously choose ourselves as our master; we are much more subtle about it. We couch our mammon choice in thinking we are making ourselves and those around us better. The measure is our worrying. Obsessive worry about things, future plans, success, money, security, looks, etc., is a clue that we have chosen ourselves as master. It is a clue that we need to change the master we serve and choose instead the most compassionate, most generous, and most dependable Master: God. Lent is the yearly celebration by the Church of its corporate conversion in Jesus Christ. Lent has two purposes: It recalls or prepares for baptism, and emphasizes a spirit of penance. Through forty days of closer attention to God’s word and of more fervent prayer, believers are prepared to celebrate the Paschal Mystery. Lenten instructions stress these baptismal and penitential themes. World Day of Prayer – March 7 – is observed annually on the first Friday in March. It is an invitation for Christians to pause and pray together ecumenically and recalls our Christian responsibility to be sensitive to the signs of the times so that we might bring a more authentically Christian dimension to the concerns of our world, our country, our community. Sponsored by the Women’s Inter-Church council of Canada and its national counterparts around the world. All Parish Pastoral Council Members are invited to a Pancake Breakfast at Saint-Anne School on Shrove Tuesday, March 4, 2014 9:00 a.m. March 5 Ash Wednesday Join a friend on a spiritual walk this Lent.
