ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND ACTIVITIES
♦ PhD thesis:
My PhD dissertation deals with the question of reusing furniture (and decoration) of the
17th and 18th centuries from 1800 to 1870, in the context of the French Court. I study
precisely who, when, how and why the French sovereigns, through the action of the GardeMeuble, purchase, collect and use old furniture in the official residences. Establishing
comparisons with other European Courts, my major themes are the early constitution of
public furniture collections in the emergence of a strong market, the political and cultural
issues raised by this behaviour and the birth of a new cultural heritage in 19 th century
devoted to old decoration and furniture in Europe.
Associate member of the 'History of Garde-Meuble in Europe' research program
supervised by the Mobilier national (Paris) and the Centre de recherche du château de
Versailles. As student member of the ICOM,
ICOM I am involved in the activities of the
DEMHIST (Historic Houses-Museums) international committee.
♦ Other fields of research and activities:

the 18th century: romantic literature, philosophy, French theatre, watercolours etc.
