Once flames illumined this landscape
Once hatred darkened the tide
And scattered a nation like autumn leaves,
All past and future denied.

You who are our Light of Hope and Healing, we thank You for
Your presence among us here as we reflect on the tragedy of the
Acadian Deportation. Open our hearts to better understand this
story. Open our eyes to better see your faithful presence in the
midst of pain and suffering of this tragedy. Open our minds to see
the signs of Hope and Healing in the Acadian Community of
today, in order that we might celebrate and rejoice in them.

Grant us the courage to be a Light of Hope and Healing in the
community around us. Help us to honour our past in a way that
allows us to heal from its pains and wrongs, and to build new and

is the reality of all that is hoped for;
faith is the proof of all that is unseen.
2 Because of faith, our ancestors were
approved by God. 3 By faith, we understand
that the world was created by the word

they were called, and went off to the place
they were to receive as a heritage; they

God of all those who wander in search of
home; God of all those who hunger for
knowing from where their next meal will
come; God of all those who have been
rejected by our society and pushed to the
margins; shine within us your light of Hope
and Healing, that our eyes might be opened
and our hearts might be converted that we,
too, may become lights of hope and healing
for all those in our world today who are the
homeless peoples of our time. Give us
prophetic voices to speak and enact your
justice. Give us liberated hearts to sing and
anoint your healing. Give us open minds to
dream a world where all have a home, and
hearts with the courage to build this world
of our dreams in our day. We pray this in
Your Holy Name, and in the strong name of
Jesus Christ. Amen!

de la société diffuse en nous ta lumière
d’Espoir et de Guérison, pour que nos yeux

ceux et celles qui sont sans abris dans ce
monde et dans ce temps. Donne-nous des

aura sa maison, et le courage de construire
