The Gator Tales The Unofficial Newsletter of Lake Hammock Village David Schnopp Editor Manager Notes VACATION NOTICE Please if you are going to be away from your home on vacation fill out a ‘vacation notice’ and leave at the office and also let a neighbor know how long you will be gone as well as leave an emergency number. A neighbor, friend or the office should also have a key to your house for emergency purposes. We had a resident a few weeks ago that went on a trip and neither the office nor any neighbors knew of the trip. The resident’s car was in the driveway and newspapers had piled up for a few days. Neighbors were concerned because they had not seen the resident and either were they aware of any planned trip for the resident. After trying to look in windows to make sure the resident was okay the police were called for a ‘well care check’. The police entered the house and found printouts from the computer of a trip out of town that the resident was thought to be on. This incident turned out ‘okay’ but it could have easily not have been….Concerned neighbors and friends is what Lake Hammock Village is made up of and we should all be thankful for that. VACATION NOTICE, GUEST NOTICE AND COMMENT FORMS are available in the clubhouse or in the office. All PET OWNERS please bring to the office your pet’s current vaccination/shot records along with a picture of your pet by January 1, 2010. BASIC NAILS Complete Professional Nail Care Acrylic nail, Manicure, Pedicure, Tanning, Waxing and Nail Art SUNCREST SALES CORPORATION AT LAKE HAMMOCK VILLAGE Mon -Sat 9am – 7 pm Sunday Closed Walk ins Welcome This month was a very important month for the HOA and the community. The new, reconstructed board is up and running and is beginning to establish a new purpose for the HOA. We are looking for new ideas for activities for the community. If you can think of something that you would like to try, let us know. We have elections coming up in January and would like to expand to nine members. If you would like to be a candidate, contact Mark Anthis at 421-1735. We need to have more candidates than positions in order to have a meaningful election. Also, remember that you cannot vote unless you have paid your dues. The Editor INVITATION In a world of uncertainty, questions regarding the future of our economy the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the ongoing debate concerning health care reform are not uncommon. As a resident of LHV more people of the village are approaching me for counseling as a professional clergy person of 40+ years. This reality really came home when a wonderful neighbor and personal friend recently placed his home on the retail market. When asked “why” he was direct and to the point. “I can’t afford to live here any longer”. The only thing that I can do is try to reassure these wonderful residents which include people from all faiths that the good God in which we believe will not let us down. I believe that Lake Hammock is a wonderful place to reside. I do not agree with all of the decisions of the owners or HOA but everyone has a right to express their opinion. If we don’t believe in the First Amendment then it should be abolished. As a means of celebrating and re-inaugurating a sense of harmony, I invite anyone who desires to celebrate a Christmas Eve Mass at my residence. Page # 3 GRANDMA’S ATTIC Barbara Pund 93 Reineke 419-8231 First, I may not publish articles critical of the owners. This includes decisions made by the owners. Mary Ann Donovan Second, I will not publish articles that attack or insult other residents of the community. 72 Sargent 422-3465 The first rule was mandated when I took over the newsletter. The second is my own policy. That said, the purpose of this newsletter is information and entertainment, not investigation or politics. I will not be accepting articles that will incite controversy. I apologize if anyone feels that is in any way a limitation on their freedom of speech but that is the way that I edit this newsletter. I do urge those who have concerns or complaints to contact directly those that they have problems with. The owner’s website is listed on page one of this newsletter. Obtain one large bone from owners table. If you did not pick up your copy during the November HOA meeting, and did not find a copy in your door, contact me for your copy. Bury in backyard. Age to taste. I personally recommend at least one month. We did not leave copies at the doors of winter residents. Contact me when you arrive for the winter. Dig up and take back inside. This was a cooperative effort between the HOA and the Manager’s Office. There is no cost for the new directory. Lay down on owners best carpet and enjoy chewing your bone.
