The University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis lays the emphasis on research which helps reinforce, primarily, the connection
with the courses offered, and secondarily, activities related to valorisation and transfer. The principal research subjects in the
University's laboratories are sustainable transport, digital vision, urban engineering and also housing and necessary materials.
The coexistence of various disciplines was established in a framework of networks, and active partnerships with foreign universities
across the world. It was further strengthened by partnerships with research and industrial organisations.

The University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis provides its students with “virtual offices”, which allows them to connect, be
it from their home or anywhere on the campus, to their email accounts, personal workspaces, documentary resources and
pedagogical supports uploaded by their professors.

Student associations in Valenciennes assure a dynamic campus experience by organising not only parties, sporting and cultural

Rich environment
The dynamic city of Valenciennes is home to several sporting associations as well as entertainment options (cinema, bowling, ice
rink...). Its footbal team plays in France’s top division. Its cultural hub includes a national fine arts museum, a multimedia library, a
music conservatory and a national theatre. The main points of the city - including the university campus, the city centre and the
railway station - are linked by a tramway. Hainaut-Cambrésis is known for its green belt, a regional natural park, national forests and
water bodies.
