In my mind, heart, and soul
What were you doing from 24th to 29th March?
Well, the cm22 class will never forget that date, as they were in London on a
cultural and linguistic trip.
From the beginning of the school year, the class study Great Britain, and the
British way of life.
Cultural studies of this sort englobe a wide and rich research into the country,
traditions, customs, poetry, music, literary aspects, history, geography, and a
revelation of day in the life of a British pupil.
As Cannes town hall is twinned with Kensington town hall in London, our pupils
benefit from a culturally rich twinning project. The pupils correspond
throughout the year with a cm2 class at Our Lady Of Victories School, in
Kensington, London.
One of the highlights of our trip is the official ceremony with the mayor of
Kensington, and above all, our visit to Our Lady Of Victories School, where we
are always welcomed with open arms. The pupils have lunch at the canteen with
their pen friends, and experience different workshops in the school, during the
afternoon.
Our trip to London takes us to the famous monuments, the changing of the
guard, the museums, and to Stratford Upon Avon, the birthplace of William
Shakespeare.
We are now looking forward to our penpals visit in June.

some of the cm22 and the teachers comments on their trip to London :

I have been working on the London project for 8 years. The project begins in
September with a rich and interesting discovery programme leading to a trip to
London for one week, and an explosion of visits, discoveries, and a complete
immersion into the British way of life.
However, this project has no end, as in my opinion, the pupils leave Lochabair
with memories engraved in their mind, heart and soul. During this last 8 years, I
have often met my ex pupils, some in Collège, some in Lycée, and some in the
professional life. One of the most heart warming moments, is when they say “do
you remember when we did……..in London?”

Lorsque Madame Lucas m’a demandé d’accompagner les enfants à Londres, c’est
avec une grande joie que j’ai accepté.
J’ai enseigné huit ans en CM2, et ai été à l’origine, avec Chris, de ce projet de
voyage à Londres et d’échange avec l’école Our Lady Of Victories à Kensington,
Londres.
Voyage culturel et linguistique très enrichissant au cours duquel les enfants ont
pu mettre en pratique leur anglais, et ils sont très à l’aise !

J’ai été ravie de pourvoir accompagner les enfants lors de ce beau séjour à
Londres, au cœur de la culture anglaise. Nous grimpions chaque matin avec
enthousiasme dans les fameux bus rouges à deux étages, et partions à la
découverte de la richesse culturelle de la ville. Les enfants ont démontré tout au
long du séjour leur capacité à comprendre la langue anglaise, et s’exprimait avec
un très bon anglais dès que l‘occasion se présentait !
Nous avons hâte à notre tour de recevoir les petits anglais, vêtus de leur
traditionnel uniforme. Nous espérons tous que ce bel échange durera encore
longtemps !

Charlotte Mizzaro :
C’était super de faire ce voyage, et de rencontrer nos correspondants. La
meilleure visite était celle de Stratford Upon Avon, le village de William
Shakespeare. J’ai adoré ce voyage !
Anaïs Guigon :
Londres, c’était génial, les visites étaient belles, et le soir on faisait un petit
résumé de ce qu’on avait vu dans la journée.
Matthew Kinchington :
Londres était sympa, j’ai adoré la rencontre avec les correspondants, on a pu
jouer avec eux, bref, j’ai adoré ce voyage !
Tristan Lopresti :
Londres était super, j’ai adoré Tower Bridge, mais il faisait froid ! 0l’auberge, on
s’amusait super bien, et il y avait aussi des musées intéressants. J’ai beaucoup
aimé la relève de la Garde.
