OLM Raffle Winner
Congratulations to Ann Consolino, winner of Our Lady of
Mercy Catholic High School’s car raffle! Ann won a brand
new 2013 Ford Focus from Gene Evans Ford in Union City.
This year’s raffle was Mercy’s most successful yet, as all
2,000 tickets sold in record time! Thank you to everyone who
purchased a ticket and supported our school. We hope you
will participate in next year’s raffle which will roll out in
January 2014.

Catholic Charities Atlanta 6th Annual Gala
Thursday, April 18th, 6:00-10:00PM at The Foundry at Puritan
Mill. Catholic Charities Atlanta (CCA) is celebrating our 60th
Anniversary of Providing Help and Creating Hope at our annual
Gala on April 18th. The event will feature a cocktail reception,
silent auction, and seated gourmet dinner. Master of Ceremonies
will be Russ Spencer, Fox 5 News Anchor. Honored guests include Archbishop Wilton Gregory. The Archbishop Donoghue
Award is presented each year at the Gala to exceptional individuals who demonstrate qualities of selfless service and devotion to helping others in need. This year’s honoree is Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, Ph.D. He is being honored for his leadership
and vision towards establishing the Martin Luther King, Sr.

“A Celebration of 50 Years
of African American Catholic Music”
Six nationally acclaimed liturgical artists will collaborate for “A
Celebration of 50 Years of African American Catholic Music” at
Our Lady of Lourdes, 25
Boulevard NE, Atlanta, April 9th, 10th, &
11th. Part of a yearlong observance of its
100th anniversary, the
Lourdes gathering will
feature an open rehearsal at 7:00PM Tuesday, April 9th and two
concerts at 7:00PM,
April 10th and 11th,
which will be recorded.
The event is free and
open to the public. A
love offering will be
taken up each night to help defray costs. Our Lady of Lourdes–
the Mother Church of African American Catholics in the Archdiocese of Atlanta– was founded in 1912 through the generosity
of St. Katharine Drexel.
Adult Enrichment
On April 7th, Adult Enrichment will introduce the Spiritual Exercises
of St. Ignatius. These exercises have been forming souls for centuries.
Ignatius was a remarkable man of God and his program opens a remarkable path to holiness for those who have gone before and for us
today. Join us to learn more about the man and his work. The class
will include an overview of the Exercises and an opportunity to experience some of his practices. Lalor Cadley is a spiritual director
with 20 years experience companioning people on their spiritual journeys. Every fall, she teaches a 12-week course on the Exercises at
Ignatius House. Adult Enrichment meets Sundays at 10:15AM in the
first classroom on the right as you enter the school.

20’s, 30’s and 40’s in the Archdiocese. Join us for various social,

Jour de Pâques
La fête de Pâques, pour nous, chrétiens, c’est d’abord la résurrection de Jésus. Ce mot Pâques signifie passage. C’est le passage de Jésus à la vie définitive de Dieu. Des passages, nous en faisons beaucoup dans notre vie : on
passe de l’enfance à l’adolescence, on passe d’une classe à l’autre ; ces passages, ce sont des moments importants qui nous permettent de progresser,
d’aller plus loin. Pour les jeunes, il y a d’autres passages ; je pense au moment où l’on entre dans la vie active, le moment où l’on quitte ses parents
pour aller fonder une famille ailleurs. On pourrait en faire une longue liste.
Aujourd’hui, nous fêtons le grand passage de Jésus ; c’est son passage à la
vie de Dieu ; et c’est dans ce passage qu’il veut nous entraîner. C’est lui le
passeur. Cette résurrection de Jésus c’est d’abord une Bonne nouvelle qui a
bouleversé des foules entières. Chacun demandait : « Que devons-nous faire ? » Et la réponse a été un appel à se convertir et à demander le baptême.
C’est ainsi que la résurrection de Jésus a été le point de départ d’un changement radical dans leur vie.
En ce jour, de nombreux baptêmes sont célébrés dans la plupart des églises
du monde entier. Des enfants, des jeunes, des adultes entrent dans la grande
famille des chrétiens. Pour eux aussi c’est un passage, un nouveau départ.
Toutes ces personnes qui ont été baptisées au cours de la veillée pascale et
celles qui le sont en ce jour s’engagent sur la même route que nous ; sur cette
route, ce n’est pas toujours facile ; il y a parfois le doute, le découragement ;
les multiples activités font qu’on n’a pas toujours le temps de s’arrêter, de
prendre du temps pour retrouver le Seigneur.
Mais aujourd’hui, nous sommes interpellés : tous ces nouveaux baptisés ont
besoin de notre témoignage ; ils ont besoin de sentir que Jésus ressuscité
c’est quelqu’un d’important pour nous, qu’il est vraiment la lumière de notre
vie. Pour nous aider à comprendre cela, il y a un symbole fort dans la célébration du baptême. Nous avons devant nous le cierge pascal. Il représente la
lumière. Hier soir, au cours de la veillée pascale, cette lumière a été communiquée à toute l’assemblée. Cette lumière nous fait penser à Jésus, à l’espérance qu’il met en nous, à l’amour qu’il a pour nous.
A cause de Pâques, à cause de la résurrection du Christ,
ne gardons pas les yeux rivés sur la terre. Levons-les
vers le Royaume où Dieu nous attend. Et vivons comme des ressuscités. L'Eucharistie que nous célébrons
ensemble nous y invite.
