Total cost PANOLIN HLP SYNTH
The material cost for rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oils (in this case PANOLIN HLP SYNTH) are practically
idententical to those of mineral oil. The 12,000 operating hours assumed correspond with the average useful
life of a construction machine resp. the useful life of PANOLIN HLP SYNTH without an oil change. Longer oil
change intervals are accepted by the machine manufacturers as long as oil analyses and oil care are
observed.
However, the main factors in favour of using rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oils are not quantifiable in
advance resp. have not been considered, such as e.g.:

higher potential of risk when using mineral oil. Quote from a verdict as by the county court Hamburg
dated 04.04.2006 - Az. 312 O 795/05: „Users of machines in environmentally sensitive areas for
insurance resp. liability reasons are furthermore obliged or even forced to only fill in oils and lubricants in
their machines, which, if released to the environment, would result in the smallest possible damage to
the environment.”
For applications where rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oils are compulsory the machines have to be
converted at a high cost or possibly rented or exchanged from other applications.
Even smaller oil accidents may cause the authorities to order a work stoppage.
Due to less resp. no oil changes further material and logistics related costs are saved. It is difficult to
have an exact value of all of these savings in advance, therefore they are not included in the comparison
of efficiency. The same accounts for all costs that may arise when using mineral oil but do not apply in
this form when using PANOLIN HLP SYNTH.
