prototype d’arme de poing avec un cylindre rotatif percé de
plusieurs chambres pour y loger les balles, il venait d’inventer

En 1851, Colt s’implante dans sa ville natale de Hartford. Au
milieu de l’année 1860, alors que les Etat-Unis sombraient
dans la guerre Civile, Colt fournissait les soldats sudistes et
ceux de l’Union, mais à partir de 1861, Colt arrête de vendre
des armes à l’Armée Confédéré. Samuel Colt meurt le 10 janvier
1862, il a 48 ans. En 1873, le premier revolver à cartouche
métallique est inventé, le « Conciliateur », plus connu sous la
dénomination SAA (Single Action Army). En 1891, Colt travail
avec un certain John Moses Browning, père du Colt 1911.
Colt fournit le fusil d’assaut de l’armée US depuis le Vietnam,
le M16 et toutes ses variantes.
