TT he weekly magazine Time Out tells you what’s on in London (films, plays, concerts and other activities). 17 STRATEGIES How to improve your vocabulary FILE 1 Avoir un vocabulaire riche et varié en anglais ? Comment faire ? Il y a trois étapes essentielles à respecter : la mémorisation, le stockage et l’enrichissement. MÉMORISATION • Entraîne-toi à mémoriser tous les adjectifs que tu as appris dans File 1. TIPS Pour bien mémoriser son vocabulaire, il faut faire quelque chose avec : - classer les mots à apprendre par thèmes ; - dans chaque liste par thème, les classer par synonymes ou contraires, par catégories grammaticales ou inventer un autre classement ; - noter la traduction des mots ou les illustrer par un dessin ; - employer les mots dans des phrases ; - fermer les yeux, voir un mot écrit dans sa tête et le recopier de mémoire ; - inventer divers jeux de mémorisation : mimes, petites papiers français-anglais dans une enveloppe, choisir une lettre au hasard et trouver un mot qui commence par cette lettre, etc. ; - varier les techniques pour trouver celle qui te convient le mieux. STOCKAGE • Prépare-toi un planning de révisions pour les adjectifs de File 1 que tu as mémorisés. En voici un exemple : • Commence toujours tes révisions par un petit test (à partir des traductions, des dessins, des petits papiers français-anglais, etc.), pour savoir combien de mots tu parviens à retrouver de mémoire. Note ton score avant la révision. • Révise surtout les mots que tu avais oubliés en choisissant diverses techniques de mémorisation. Travaille pendant une dizaine de minutes. • Teste-toi et note ton score après révision. S’il n’est pas parfait, tu feras mieux à la prochaine révision ! TIP 80% du vocabulaire que tu apprends est oublié dans les 24 heures. Une seule solution : réviser régulièrement à l’aide d’un planning de révision. ENRICHISSEMENT • Il y a certainement d’autres adjectifs de personnalité que tu connais. Ajoute-les aux adjectifs appris dans File 1 et mémorise-les en même temps. • Chaque fois que tu rencontreras un autre adjectif de personnalité pendant l’année, pense à l’ajouter dans ta fiche. TIPS 18 - Laisse toujours de la place sur les fiches de vocabulaire que tu constitues, pour pouvoir les enrichir. - Chaque fois que tu apprends des mots nouveaux, cherche dans quelle fiche tu pourrais les placer, sinon commence de nouvelles fiches.
