The Sc@la Project MDM Hub Implemention for Natural Gaz Transport Informatica Day – Zurich 2013 1 November 7, 2014 Agenda 2 Presenting GRT Gaz Business Case – MDM Rationale Project Scope and Schedule Data found in MDM Hub Datastewardship In summary Presenting Arhis Q&A November 7, 2014 Presenting GRT Gaz Activities and Some figures at a glance GRTgaz performs three main roles: It transports natural gas on behalf of its customers, ensuring safety, cost, reliability. It delivers gas to recipients directly connected to the transmission network: major industrial users, power plants that use natural gas to produce electricity, public distribution networks and neighboring transmission networks. It expands its transmission capacity in order to meet market demand and enhance security of supply for France and Europe. Key figures TURNOVER In millions of euro ~3000 employees INVESTMENTS In millions of euro 3 07/11/2014 Presenting GRT Gaz The largest High Pressure Natural Gaz network in Europe Infrastructures : GRT Gaz owns and operates the largest High Pressure Natural Gaz network in Europe : 32 000 km of natural gas network 25 compressor stations 9 nodes 870 industrial connected clients 4550 shiping points 677 TWh transported (60 billions m3) Presenting GRT Gaz 4 07/11/2014 The Sc@la project building blocks What is SC@LA ? SC@LA is a project that aims to provide a Gas Network Management system, with accurate and consolidate information for the enterprise, which meet the needs of the market. Steady State Simulation Simulation statique Real Time Network Simulation RFO The project has chosen specialized applications in each of the functional area to build the solution : SCADA based on the tool OASys of Schneider Electric (ex Telvent) in core of project SIMONE the dynamic simulation module of the network PI the real time Data Historian of OSIsoft RFO based on the tool MDM Hub Informatica (Master Data Management) RFO is completed by Informatica Powercenter used as a vehicle for data flows between systems Project Scope and Schedule 07/11/2014 Historisation Analyse Simulation dynamique Main components 5 PI Data Historian SCADA OASys Configuration Surveillance Pilotage Front-End Acquisition Reasons for creating the Sc@la RFO (Using Informatica MDM Hub) Data created in siloed environments and heterogeneous systems by teams that did not have necessarily other systems views, however some common concepts needed to be shared Various sources of data which need to be consolidated, cleanst, enriched before reaching the SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) Current Data structure based on measurement equipment (and not on physical network) has reached its limitations Will to reuse and leverage existing data sources (No need to rebuild all) 6 07/11/2014 Founding principles of the RFO A cautious approach : minimal impact on legacy SC@LA will be based on a Master Data Management solution This first brick shall serve as a foundation for other domains in the future This MDM brick shall have minimum impact on legacy systems : 7 o Connection to legacy systems (Geographical ( GIS), MRO (CMMS), etc…) possible to collect data but no exchange or data modifications with those critical systems o No formal commitment in validating data consistency between systems (GIS or CMMS) for Sc@la. 07/11/2014 Summary planning On schedule delivery ! In summary 18 7 novembre 2014 Conclusion RFO is based on Informatica MDM Hub Adaptable and configurable Tools The Data Model is consistent with GRTgaz Reference Model The Data Structure of MDM is technically independent to SCADA which implies that less constraints to development are imposed by GRTgaz source system which could allow to expand the scope of the MDM to other business needs Fast implementation and strong knowledge of Informatica product were key as well as good cooperation between the project teams to let the project to meet tight deadlines 19 07/11/2014 Arhis Value Proposition A Swiss Leader !
