Advertising rates, however, have not increased. Quite the opposite: all specialty magazines have now been grouped in a single rate category—which, for some titles, means that rates have even gone down! In response to requests from the majority of our advertisers, we have developed a new rate card with pre-established modular formats, designed based on the desired impact, regardless of specific client objectives. The new rate card hinges on the four primary strands of market impact: dominance, strength, frequency and presence. With the largest readership in Quebec agriculture, our publications offer unbeatable value for money, and represent the best advertising investment. 20 21 Vivre à la campagne (Country Lifestyle)22 Ad sizes and rates 23 These modular formats are advantageous in that they meet the needs of our regular clients as well as of those who wish to advertise only sporadically, and of major ad campaign organizers. They know, as Henry Ford did, that “ For the most up-to-date version, please consult our virtual Media Guide at www.laterre.ca/advertise. 2015 MEDIA GUIDE AUGUST 20, 2014 - V3 AUGUST 20, 2014 - V3 a man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time. ” 2015 MEDIA GUIDE 3 24 11 ISSUES PER YEAR The most INEXPENSIVE way to reach Quebec’s anglophone rich ag community Vol. 34, No. 3 – March 2014 Farming for campaign promises WHAT’S INSIDE Get farm business software p.3 UPA Estrie members update p.4 QFA on Parilament Hill p. 5 QFA videoconference event on farm loans p.12 The Advocate has a captive audience. Sabato Quebec Premier Pauline Marois appeared at UPA headquarters in Longueuil on March 17. The leaders erss off all er ll off Quebec’s Q major parties made official visits to the producers’ union to discuss their campaign platforms for agriculture. Andrew McClelland Advocate Staff Reporter Quebec’s provincial election is right around the corner, with voters headed to the ballot box on April 7. And while it’s easy to see where each of the major parties stands regarding sovereignty and the controversial Quebec Charter of Values, figuring out where they stand on the issue of agriculture is trickier. It’s not an exaggeration to say that each issue of the Quebec Farmers’ Advocate is read cover-to-cover by nearly every English-speaking farmer in the province. That’s because the word “farming” doesn’t come up too often in electoral debates—or the sound bites offered up by party leaders on the campaign trail. Voters have to dig deep in the parties’ official platforms and publications to get any insight on how Quebec’s would-be premiers would change the farming industry. In December, the Parti Québécois (PQ) made headlines by announcing that it would set aside $5 million to encourage food distributors to supply Quebec institutions, such as hospitals, schools, daycare centres, and prisons, with local food. The “buy local” campaign was the PQ’s first concrete step towards implementing its “Food Sovereignty” policy. “We want 50 per cent of food consumed in Quebec to be home-grown,” announced Quebec Premier Pauline CONTINUED ON PAGE 2 The Advocate is a natural ambassador for any Western Canadian, European or American company looking to crack the Quebec market—our publication is the most inexpensive way to reach the province’s rich ag community. No translation is needed to place your ad, and new customers won’t face any language issues—our sales staff is fluently bilingual. The Advocate recently swept the competition at the 2012 Quebec Community Newspaper Awards, winning first, second and third-place awards in the Best Agricultural Story category. THE OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF THE QUEBEC FARMERS’ ASSOCIATION READ BY MORE THAN 4,000 READERS EACH MONTH With a readership ranging from agricultural students to practicing farmers to retired rural residents, the Quebec Farmers’ Advocate is the only publication reaching all demographics of Quebec’s Anglophone rural communities.
