Message From Instructors
First let’s ask two
questions. What is
success? How do you
become successful at
what you do? Following
you will find answers of
which you may or may not
agree.
First, what is success?
Simply put, “You define
your own success”. We all
look at life from individual
experiences and points of
view. So, I ask you, why
do we expect success to
look the same for
everyone? Even the
dictionary gives multiple
meanings for success;.
the last being “outcome.”
I prefer to define
success in steps and not
as a whole . This allows
one to feel successful
while progressing toward
the completion of the goal.
This motivates to actually
complete goal.
The answer to the second
question is, it takes work
to be successful. When

About Our
Organization
Community Awareness
After receiving a special invitation from
The State Bank to teach self -defense to
some of their workers, we met with them
on November 5, 2012. It helps our
communities when we are able to help
them be aware of ways they can defend
themselves. This is far from giving them
the skills they need in order to be
proficient in their abilities to defend
themselves in every circumstance,
however it is a start.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2012 we
have the opportunity to do the same
thing for The Independent Center. We
can always help to make our
communities safer.
you work at success, you
own it.
Success is not possible
by wishing for it then
sitting back with your feet
up and waiting for it to
happen. Maybe the
outcome is not exactly as
you imagined it, but you
did the work and know
what it took to get there. It
will be easier to accept
where you are and feel
the success of your hard
work. Success and hard
work go hand in hand.
Fitness Suggestions
For young and old alike it
is important to strengthen
your core and keep it
strong. The core is where
your balance and
coordination, as well as
your body’s strength, are
centered. Below is a
workout you can do on
your own at home:
30 Second Plank
Abdominal Exercise
15 – 25 Basic Push Ups
15 – 30 Sit Ups
.
25 Squats
30 Second Side Plank
(each side)
15-25 Bicycle Crunch
10-15 Skip with Side Twist
Repeat 3 times.
Do this routine three days
a week. Enjoy your
workouts. Remember to
focus on the breath.

Thoughts We Have Received From Grand Master Buell
At the 2009 Las Vegas
Seminar Grandmaster
Buell said that Universal
Kempo Karate is more
than martial arts, it is
about the spirit. You can

How Can I Improve My Skills
There are many things
one can do to improve
their skills. The most
important thing to
remember is to focus on
improving one thing at a
time. For this next month
focus on the breath. When
you are sitting, walking,
exercising, and working
focus your breath to bring
the fresh air to the belly.
When you exhale, keep it
controlled and even.
Control your breath, don’t
let your breath control
you.
The most important thing
you can do is attend class
a minimum of twice each
week. See you in class!
