Your goal is to be a professional in the field of beauty. Our goal is to help you to become that professional, to train you in the principles and practices of professional cosmetology. After you have finished the basic 1200-hour cosmetology course, 900 hour barbering course, 600-hour skin care course, the 300-hour manicuring course or the 600-hour teacher training course, you will be prepared to meet state licensing requirements. We do, however, grant credit for hours spent in all cosmetology training programs in another approved school. The State Board specifically states that a school accepting transfer students can test them to determine how many hours of credit the school will allow. After testing we inform the board of exact hours credited. HOW DO YOU GET A LICENSE? Teacher Training Course: You should have a certificate in cosmetology-hairstyling from an accredited school, be 18 years old, have six months experience in a salon and take a course in vocational teaching methods during or after your CAPRI course. State approved for 100 additional hours applied to exam preparation and technology usage. To apply for license you should be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. and have completed one of the courses listed above. If you have a diploma from a foreign country, you must have that diploma evaluated by one of the firms listed in the office of your Associate Director before submitting it to the N.J. State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling for approval. Shaving Course: Have a certificate in cosmetology. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO ENROLL IN CAPRI?
