as part of the festival of sports innovations, fsgt organises the 1st 3-4-5 JUNE 2016 PRESENTATION & AUTOARBITR É REGISTRATION le plaisir du jeu WHAT IS SELF-REFEREED 7 PLAYER FOOTBALL The 1st conventional wisdom Self-refereeing is a utopia. Matches can’t end without a brawl. Self-refereed football code : n Before the match : l Players : 7 players on the field including the goal-keeper. Subsitutions are unlimited and can be made at any time without stopping the game. l Field : A half field of eleven player football (around 60x45m) with lateral goals (6x2,1m) and penalty area at 11m of the goal line. l Duration : The time depends of the tournament organization. In championship, matches last 2x30 minutes, without additional time. At full time, game finishes when the ball goes out of the field. n During the match : l Game : No offside Throw in with foot The goal-keeper can’t use his hands to take the ball on a teammate pass. l Fouls : No tackles All free kicks are direct l Self-refereeing : AUTOARBITRÉ INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL AUTOARBITRÉ À 7 WRONG row in de, no tackle, th si off o (n s le ru With simplified uch less faults eing produces m re fe re lfse ), ot with fo ll. traditionnal footba and disputes than erment and resw po ayers’ em pl on d se ba e ar Matchs s. pect of opponent me is imposrstand that the ga de un to s ha er ay mates, Each pl addition to team In . rs he ot e th sible without rmit them to r partners. Players have to regulate the game. 2 u e j u d r i s i le pla n After the match : l Fair-play : Fair play of the match contributes to the interest of this activity. All players are responsible for the fairplay. Each player has to understand that the game is more important than issue. MORE PRECISELY, SELF REFEREEING, HOW DOES IT WORK ? AUTOARBITRÉ The 2nd conventional wisdom There is no referee in self-refereed 7 player football !! WRONG u e j u d r isi le pla Self-refereeing is «auto-arb itrage» in French. It comes from Greek «autos» which means «oneself». It is not a matter of a lack of refereein g, but of a collective regulation of the game by player s themselves. External observers can be present on the side of the field, but they are not referees. They just check that sel f-refereeing rules are applied . They can remind them if necessary. A lot of people on the action > I point out that i was the last person to touch the ball Hand is evident > no discussion Player asks an evident foul > no discussion Player who made foul refutes in penalty area or not ? > players nearby decide. If necessary, by compromise (ex : we can decide to play a free kick in penalty area). ADVANTAGE Situation is clear > no discussion HAND DIFFICULT APPRECIATION ? Players asks «foul» ; a teammate continues to play and announces «advantage». immediate announcement ? > playable advantage Defenders stopped > not playable advantage REALLY DISAGREED ? Out of the line ? 2 players touched the ball at the same time ? > ball goes to a defending team > Teams have to reach an agrreement in 2 minutes > the action can be «put aside» > Without agreement, we usually give the ball to a defending team INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL AUTOARBITRÉ À 7 Theoretically, each player has to report his foul. In practice, the nearest player will report it during the game . But in all cases, 14 players are involved in the decision. Caution : only players on the field can regulate the game. Substitutes and coaches don’t participate in self-refer eeing. > common convention : teams that regain the possession of the ball, give it to the opponents ... Tolerance level is not the same for each team. Rough contacts are regulated by the principle that players don’t do what they don’t want to be done by the opponents. If necessary, regulation is re-calibrated by each team leader, first of all in his own team. Especially, when a player shows bad faith in evaluating his fouls. 3 AN INTERNATIONAL SELF-REFEREED 7 PLAYER FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT : IS THAT POSSIBLE ? 4 Self-refereed 7 player football is not really a competition. Self-refereeing is impossible when there is an issue (a stake). wrong at comes to against a team th ed ay pl er ev u yo fereed 7 Have watched a self-re er ev u yo ve ha lose ? SELF-REFEREED 7 PLAYER FOOTBALL CHARTER AUTOARBITRÉ FSGT activities are mainly meant to convey a human and sport idea. FSGT prefers education and empowerment of everyone to repression and punishment. Our football has changed profoundly in recent years. It is more diversified. Our role is to do everything possible to change playing conditions : a more offensive game, better adapted to favour the progress of everybody and to limit violence and conflicts causes. Special rules were created to pass to a pleasant, not violent and opponent friendly football : no offside, throw in with foot, no tackle, etc. u e j u d r le plaisi Teams that participate in The International self-refereed 7 player football tournament commit : l To respect teamates and opponents with words and deeds. Game is impossible without opponents. self-refereed 7 player football is a meetings and exchanges place. These exchanges have to be done with courtesy, calm and a friendly attitude l To respect officials, volunteers and people who work to organize this event. l To outlaw all foms of violence before, during and after the game. FSGT Self-refereed 7 player football wants to be a non violent and citizen activity. It tries to eradicate any verbal or physical violence. l Not to use any artifice and cheating to win. With this no-referee concept, each player has to understand that the game is the issue. Deceit and simulation mustn’t be used. A key to a good self-refereed match is to make few or no fouls. Fair-play contributes to the acitivity’s interest. lT o empower team players in order to ensure a good playing of the game, with sportsmanship which is essential for a good match. Team leaders are guarantors for their team fair-play. They have to intervene to restore calm, if necessary. Communication between team leaders, in particular before the game, is very important for ensuring that the match runs smoothly. l To respect provided sport facilities. lT o make every game a pleasure, regardless the issue. I declare that I have read and understood the self-refereed 7 player football charter and I agree to work to make it known and respected by all my team members. Done in : …………………………….
