Dear parents,
In the spirit of beginning the New Year on a healthy note, Mountainview School through
the Richelieu Valley Community Learning Centre (RVCLC) would like to ask for your
participation in choosing a health related topic for us to explore with students, parents
and community members during NUTRITION month in March, 2013.
As in previous years, the school will be organizing educational activities for students in
relation to healthy living and nutrition. We have provided a list of topics for you to
choose from and you need only check off the topic(s) that you are most interested in. We
would also ask that you indicate your child’s age(s) _____________________________.
If you wish to choose a different topic related to health and nutrition than those provided
in our list, we have provided an extra space for you to do so.
Student knowledge of the Canadian food guide
Parent knowledge of the Canadian food guide
Integrating the Canadian food guide into your daily routine
Ability to make better food choices (healthy choices vs sweet or fatty foods)
Ability to read food labels and ingredient lists effectively (salt and fat content)
Impact of media on our food choices
Food allergy awareness
Best practices for home kitchen food safety
