Consulat général de France à Chicago Alliance Française de Chicago 2010 French Language Photo Contest for High School students in the Midwest The Cultural Services of the French Consulate of Chicago, with the Embassy of France in Washington D.C. and the Alliance Française de Chicago, presents a photography contest for High School students enrolled in French language class in the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin) in celebration of la semaine de la langue française et de la francophonie (French language week, March 20-27th 2010). Every year, ten words are chosen for la semaine de la langue française et de la francophonie. For 2010, the ten words are : Baladeur, Cheval de Troie, Crescendo, Escagasser, Galère, Mentor, Mobile, Remueméninges, Variante, Zapper The photo contest is open to all High School students in the Midwest who are learning French. French citizens and students enrolled in French School accredited by the French Ministry of National Education are not allowed to participate. The students competing will illustrate these words through photographs with titles or captions. Rules and Regulations 1. The contest is open to all American High School students in the Midwest who are learning French (grades 9-12). The candidate may only participate once. 2. Each candidate will choose one of the two following categories: Category A : Baladeur, Cheval de Troie, Crescendo, Escagasser, Galère Category B : Mentor, Mobile, Remue-méninges, Variante, Zapper 3. Each candidate will submit five photographs that each illustrates each word in the category chosen. 4. Each photo must be with a title or a caption in French that contains the word represented by the photograph. 5. The size of each photo must not exceed 1200px/1600px (approximately). The format will be JPEG. 6. The participants will send: - The five photos with the five corresponding titles or caption - the application form to the following email address : [email protected] The deadline for submissions is March 31st, 2010. Each photo file must be named by the word that it represents. Example: baladeur.jpg 7. All photos submitted will be put on the blog: http://photofrancophoniemidwest2010.blogspot.com/ If a candidate does not wish for his or her photos to be published on the blog, this must be specified in the email that contains the photos. The files received will not be returned. Prizes 1st prize: Prize of the Embassy of France in Washington (one prize only): a stay in France (from July 7th-17th 2010), through the program « Allons en France »: www.allonsenfrance.com ; http://www.frenchculture.org/spip.php?rubrique602&tout=ok 2nd prize: Prize of the Alliance Française de Chicago (one prize only): free enrollment in a French language course. 3rd prize: Prize of the Cultural services of the Consulate General of France in Chicago (for each category): books, CDs or DVDs. 4th prize: Special jury prize for the best photo (for each category): books, CDs or DVDs.
