The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most visible moments of the annual film calendar. As of today,
women directed 2 films in the main competition out of a total of 17 films for a total of just 11%.
Many women’s film festivals, organizations and institutions throughout the world have been working
for several decades to improve the status of women in cinema as well as to illuminate their many
accomplishments.
This event will feature individuals and organizations putting forward strategic solutions to improve
the situation for female filmmakers.

Le Festival de Cannes est l’un des moments les plus prestigieux de l’agenda cinématographique
mondial. Cette année seulement 2 réalisatrices ont vu leurs films sélectionnés en compétition
officielle sur un total de 17 films (11 %). De nombreux festivals de films de femmes, organisations et
institutions à travers le monde travaillent depuis plusieurs décennies pour faire évoluer la place des
femmes dans le cinéma.
