We felt like fiddling with sound together,
finding a new playground. At the end of
2004 we begin working on improvisation,
planning to expand our tools, to broaden our
investigative field, to confront research in
timbre and melody, to pervert established
codes... In a short time, we assemble the
necessary ingredients (acoustic, electric and
prepared intruments, electronics, objects,
toys...) and we start to explore the world of
possibilities that opens before us. And now
the necessary ingredients are in constant
evolution !
We are members of the collective GRAND
CHAHUT COLLECTIF and we participate
(or have participated) together to many
other projects : Balinaises Chahutations
(meeting with a little Gamelan), Grand
Chahut Ensemble (big-band), Grand Lilliput
Ensemble, The diagonal of Chernobyl (in
2006, an artistic event on the occasion of the
commemoration of the fire at the Chernobyl
nuclear power plant), organization of
concerts and events at HICAM...
After several concerts we found it interesting
to make a disc, « improvisations 05 ». This
CD-R (actually just used for promotion)
is made up of improvisations recorded in
2005. We tried out different configurations
both technically and in our way of playing.
The result gets close to a montage which
nevertheless remains faithful to the spirit of
our live performance.
There is also on this disc a short video
montage from a concert at the HICAM, the
venue of our collective.

Le Nœud Logique’s music appears on the 2nd (improvisation titled « Les pieds à l’air à côté
de la Finlande ») and on the 3rd (meeting with the clarinet trio Clartet, recorded live at Le 102,
Grenoble) non-profit making compilations made by the association Taenia Solium.

Anne Montagard : clarinet, bass clarinet, voice, etc
Born in Avignon, 9th March 1977
After musical studies in Avignon and Marseille (symphony
orchestra and contemporary creations with Georges Boeuf), a
musicology degree and a DUMI at Aix-en-Provence (1990-2002),
she develops instrumental, vocal and dance improvisation through
workshops (with Sclavis, Lubat, Badault, Minvielle, Roy Hart,
Grotowsky, kinesiology, Laban...) and street performance with the
company CHARCUTERIE PLOMBERIE MALAGAR. Following the
multidisciplinary european course with the company Subito Presto
(Vaucluse) in the summer 2002, special relationships are formed
with young foreign artists and projects combiing several artistic
disciplines take place in Lisbon, Sienna and Moscow. She met the
GRAND CHAHUT COLLECTIF in September 2003. At the moment,
she continues to play with the GRAND CHAHUT ENSEMBLE, the
collective’s big band, and with POUM SI JIM, an acoustic quintet
playing original compositions. She works on free improvisation and
sound experimentation within LE NŒUD LOGIQUE, a trio which
combines improvisation and electronic music. With the company
LES BABAS AU RHUM, she creates a piece of musical theatre for
children, called « L’Ôde au Ragout Vue par Louis Touchet » which
has been playing since October 2004.

Lionel Malric : piano, electroacoustic set, keyboards, electronic,
amplified objects, trombone, etc
Born 27 July 1980,
From the conservatoire of Narbonne, a qualified DUMIst, a
graduate of the conservatoire of Marseille, he takes part in
various courses : Enrico Pierranunzi (piano, jazz), André Minvielle
(voice), Daan Vanderwalle (prepared piano)... In 1996, he meets
Brice Soniano and founds ZE PRITCHEUR, an impro-active jazz
collective. He performs many multidisciplinary creations (dance,
theatre, circus...), he is a member of the medieval-improvised
music collective ARKA, he plays in the street with the company
CHARCUTERIE PLOMBERIE MALAGAR, he gives concerts with
the Portuguese jazz singer Sara Belo... He joined LA PETITE
COMPAGNIE and the GRAND CHAHUT COLLECTIF in 2003.
In 2007 he starts to play his project « SOLO POUR 227 CORDES »,
solo for prepared piano.

Yannis Frier : electric guitar, tapes, radio, etc
Born 30th March 1977
In 1991, strongly influenced by rock music, from blues to punk,
Yannis Frier begins his musical exeriences holding a guitar and
shouting into a mic with a rural garage band. In 1998, at the
same time as his studies at the Beaux-Arts in Valence, he joins
LA PETITE COMPAGNIE an octet with many influences (klezmer,
rock, jazz...) with which he tries his hand at collective musical
composition, he performs concerts on the modern music circuit...
Attracted by improvisation, he started to learn jazz in music
school and he takes part in the creation of the GRAND CHAHUT
COLLECTIF with which he currently works as musician, composer,
graphic designer, agitator, organisator : MARQUIS TSAW
(5te), BURZIC (cinema-concert, free-rock-burlesque), GRAND
CHAHUT ENSEMBLE (big band), LE NŒUD LOGIQUE (amplified
improvisation), BALINAISES CHAHUTATIONS (meeting with a little
Gamelan)... In 2006 he participated to « The diagonal of Chernobyl »,
with theater company Brut de Béton.

GRAND CHAHUT COLLECTIF
The Grand Chahut Collectif brings together about twenty musicians drawn by a particular
concept of creation : being both attentive to its numerous roots and influences, and
wishing to subvert them joyfully through writing, improvisation, experimentation. Working
regulalry with longstanding groups (Grand Chahut Ensemble, l’Amarante, Burzic, Marquis
Tsaw, la Chahuteuse Mobile, Le Noeud Logique, Trio des Quilles, « Mazette La Belle
Chahute ! », Mur Shut), the musicians of the collective also participate in one-off projects
: The diagonal of Chernobyl in 2006, creations and improvisations with others musicians,
dancers, visual artists...
The Grand Chahut Collectif also co-ordinates a programme of concerts and shows in its
own venue : HICAM, located in Montoison (between Lyon and Avignon, France).
