ALTERNATOR DIVISION AREP + PMI DESCRIPTION & COMPARISON DESCRIPTION et COMPARATIF SYSTEME EXCITATION AREP O AREP - PERFORMANCE O Le système AREP de Leroy Somer est un système performant, simple et moderne: O capacité de court circuit en standard capacité de fonctionner sur tout type de charge déformante grâce au système d ’alimentation du régulateur par bobinages auxiliaires système simple sans aucun système complémentaire dans la boite à bornes (booster) ou à l ’arrière de l ’alternateur (PMG) Très grande fiabilité O Le système AREP est étendu sur toute la gamme de 15kVA à 15MVA et de 220V à 11kV Our end-users expect some basic requirements from their generating set : • High motor starting and short circuit capability. • Selective protection against short circuit. • Capacity to operate with any type of load including heavy SCR, UPS or VFD. • Simple with no need of extra component • High component reliability. O The AREP excitation system is standard from 15 KVA up to 15 MVA and from 220 V to 11kV. 2 O AREP - PERFORMANCE 3 O AREP - DESCRIPTION O O O O O L ’AREP est un système d ’excitation sans bague ni balai La régulation électronique est alimentée, indépendamment du circuit de détection de tension, par deux bobinages auxiliaires insérés dans le bobinage principal du stator. L ’énergie fournie par le premier bobinage est proportionnelle à la tension de sortie alternateur (ie Shunt) L ’énergie fournie par le second bobinage est proportionnelle au courant stator (ie Booster) De plus, un aimant permanent est logé dans l’excitateur pour sécuriser l’auto-amorçage. O O O O AREP + PMI is a brushless self excited excitation system. The electronic regulation is powered independently from the voltage detection circuit by two auxiliary windings located in the main stator slots. The voltage across the first winding is proportional to that of the alternator (shunt characteristic). The voltage across the second is proportional to the stator current (series characteristic : Booster effect). In addition, a permanent magnet is located in the exciter field core to secure voltage build up. The end result is a compound characteristic, more suitable to all applications. 4 O PMI - PRINCIPLE O O O O O PMI signifie « Permanent Magnet Insert » des aimants permanents sont inclus dans l ’inducteur, permettant l ’amorçage dans tous les cas, y compris après un stockage prolongé de l ’alternateur Le système AREP + PMI répond donc parfaitement aux besoins du client, sans option particulière. O The AREP + PMI excitation enables short circuit current 3x rated current, sustained during 10 seconds, giving 2 advantages versus a shunt system : O Motor starting up to 2,5 times the rated current for a 20 % voltage dip. MOTOR STARTING CAPACITY O A sectional circuit breaker can be tripped under fault conditions, without disturbing adjacent loads powered by the alternator. LIMITED MACHINE O COMPONENTS, COMPACT The AREP + PMI system is the simplest system on the market with maximum reliability (30 years experience using auxiliary windings). SIMPLICITY AND RELIABILITY O Permanent magnet fitted inside the exciter field between the poles, in order to ensure a fail safe build-up whatever the conditions and length of non-operation periods.
