The location will be further transformed when a new entrance to Blackfriars Thameslink station is completed on the Southbank. In August 2001 an agreement was signed to form a limited partnership between Royal London Mutual Insurance Limited, a major British institution and a newly formed BVI company managed by Blackfriars, to speculatively develop Southpoint, Blackfriars Road, SE1. Furthermore, Blackfriars arranged £63.5M of senior debt finance to assist in the construction of Southpoint. This is due to commence in February 2002 for completion in the first quarter of 2004. It is anticipated that a profit in excess of £24M will be available for the BVI company once the development is let and sold. Blackfriars station is part of the Thameslink 2000 development by Railtrack.
