Durch unsachgemässen Einbau wird sowohl das DVD-Laufwerk
als auch Ihr Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung

Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen PC-kompatiblen Computer vorgesehen und
dient dort zur Wiedergabe von DVDs oder Audio-CDs und natürlich zum Einsatz herkömmlicher Computer-CDs.
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das DVD-Laufwerk eingebaut
werden soll und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie
alle Geräte von der Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker!
Das Ausschalten über den Ein-/Ausschalter genügt nicht!

Bedienungsanleitung
• Schrauben Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers auf und nehmen Sie den
Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
• Entfernen Sie eine Frontblende eines 5.25"-Einbauschachtes und die ggf. dahinter liegende Blechabdeckung.
• Konfigurieren Sie die Steckbrücke für Master/Slave, siehe oben.

Konfiguration
• Schieben Sie das DVD-Laufwerk korrekt herum in den 5.25"-Einbauschacht und
schrauben Sie es mit 4 Schrauben (max. Länge ca. 5-6mm!) fest.Der Betrieb des
Laufwerks ist nur in waagrechter Position möglich.
• Verbinden Sie das DVD-Laufwerk über das IDE-Kabel mit dem IDE-Controller;
stecken Sie ein 5.25"-Stromkabel in den Stromanschluss ein.
Gegebenenfalls können Sie den Audioausgang des DVD-Laufwerks mit Ihrer
Soundkarte verbinden; der Digitalausgang kann bei manchen Soundkarten
ebenfalls angeschlossen werden.
Hinweis: Der Digitalausgang liefert nur bei Audio-CDs ein Digitalsignal.
Beim Abspielen von DVDs liegt hier KEIN Signal an!

Installation
If you are not specially skilled for such installation get it installed
by an EXPERT TECHNICIAN or a competent special workshop.
Inexpert installation will damage both your DVD drive and your
computer including all equipment conected to it.

Prescribed use
Switch off the computer, into which the DVD drive needs to be
installed and all equipment connected and disconnect all eqipment from the mains voltage, withdraw the mains plug. It is
insufficient to turn it off via the ON/OFF switch.
The product is meant for use in a PC compatible computer and serves for the reproduction of DVD's or audio CD's and, of course, for using conventional computer
CD's.

• Screw open the casing of your computer and remove the housing lid with great
care.
• Remove the front panel of a 5.25" installation channel and possibly the sheet
metal cover located behind it.

Operating instructions
• Configure the plug-in jumper for master / slave operation, see above.
• Push the DVD drive into the 5.25" installation channel with the correct side at
front and screw it on in place using 4 screws (abt. 5 to 6 mm in length). The drive can be operated only when in a horizontal position.
Features
• Connect the DVD unit to the IDE controller via the IDE cable; plug a 5.25" current
cable into the current connection. In case of need, you may connect the audio
output of the DVD drive to your sound card; the digital output may also be connected in some sound cards.
Note: The digital output provides a digital signal only if audio CD's are
used. If DVD's are played there is NO signal here.

• Reclose the computer by turning in the screws.
• Reconnect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all
equipment.

• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort wieder aus und kontrollieren Sie sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC wieder von der Netzspannung zu
trennen, siehe oben!
Treiber-Installation
• Der fehlende Pin am 40poligen IDE-Anschluss ist normal; er verhindert bei
ensprechenden Kabeln das falsche Aufstecken des Kabels.
• Die Steckbrücke "CS/SL/MA" ist entsprechend den bereits vorhandenen
Laufwerken einzustellen.
Wird das DVD-Laufwerk als zweites Laufwerk an einem IDE-Kabel betrieben,
z.B. zusätzlich zu einer Festplatte, so muss die Steckbrücke in der Stellung "SL"
(Slave) sein, siehe Grundeinstellung oben.
Möchten Sie das DVD-Laufwerk als erstes Laufwerk betreiben, so ist die
Steckbrücke auf "MA" (Master) umzustellen (etwa wenn Sie als zweites
Laufwerk ein ZIP-Drive oder einen CD-Brenner betreiben wollen).
Die Einstellung "CS" (Cable Select) darf nicht verwendet werden, sie hat bei herkömmlichen PCs keinerlei Bedeutung; ein so eingestelltes Laufwerk wird evtl.
vom PC nicht korrekt erkannt. Nutzen Sie ausschließlich die Einstellungen "SL"
und "MA".
• Bei einem Defekt des Laufwerks kann über eine gerade gebogene Büroklammer
die im Laufwerk befindliche CD/DVD per Hand ausgeworfen werden.
Schieben Sie dazu die Büroklammer gerade hinein; mit leichtem Druck wird
dann der Einschub mit der CD langsam herausgedrückt.
Verwenden Sie den Notauswurf nur bei einem Defekt des Laufwerks.
• Achten Sie beim Anschluss des Audiokabels auf die korrekte Belegung
(R = Rechts, G = Ground/Masse/GND, L = Links); gleiches gilt für den Digitalausgang (D = Digitalsignal, G = Ground/Masse/GND).
• Die Play-/Skip-Tasten erleichtern die Wiedergabe von Audio-CDs. Nach dem
Einlegen der Audio-CD reicht ein Druck auf die "Play-/Skip-Taste", um die
Wiedergabe zu starten. Ein erneuter Druck auf diese Taste springt zum nächsten
Musiktitel.
Ein Druck auf die "Auswurf-/Stop-Taste" hält die Wiedergabe an, ein erneuter
Druck wirft die CD aus.
Für Windows 9x/ME usw. ist KEINE Treiberinstallation erforderlich, das Laufwerk
wird automatisch erkannt. Die mitgelieferte Treiberdiskette ist NICHT nötig!!
Nur wenn Sie Windows neu installieren wollen, ist eine sog. Startdiskette nötig, auf
der der Treiber (z.B. "dvdrom.sys") in der Config.sys-Datei eingebunden werden
muss (DEVICE=DVDROM.SYS /D:MSCD001); kopieren Sie dann auch den
MSCDEX.EXE (diese Datei ist z.B. im Verzeichnis "C:\Windows\Command" zu finden) auf die Diskette und binden Sie ihn in die Autoexec.bat ein
(MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001).
Tipps & Hinweise
• Der Digitalausgang liefert nur bei Audio-CDs ein Digitalsignal. Beim Abspielen
von DVDs liegt dort kein Digitalsignal an!
Bei DVDs ist das Audiosignal mit im Datenstrom enthalten und wird erst im PC
über die DVD-Playersoftware vom Bildsignal getrennt.
• Für die Wiedergabe von DVDs ist neben einer entsprechenden Software (im
Lieferumfang dieses Laufwerks ist "WinDVD2000" enthalten) auch ein entsprechend schneller PC erforderlich. Da die Decodierung der Daten über Software
geschieht, sollte der PC mindestens 500-600MHz schnell sein. Eine DirectX7kompatible Grafikkarte mit mind. 8MB ist ebenfalls Systemvoraussetzung.
Aktivieren Sie den DMA-Modus für das DVD-Laufwerk:
Wählen Sie in der Systemsteuerung unter "System/Geräte-Manager/CD-ROM"
das DVD-Laufwerk aus und klicken Sie auf "Eigenschaften". Unter
"Einstellungen" aktivieren Sie den "DMA"-Modus, setzen Sie das nebenstehende Häkchen. Falls dort keine Einstellmöglichkeit "DMA" zu sehen ist, so ist der
DMA-Modus bereits aktiviert (dies tritt oft bei PCI-IDE-Steckkarten auf).

• The missing pin on the 40-pole IDE connection is a normal case; this prevents
the cable from being misplaced for appropriate cables.
• Adjust the "CS/ SL/ MA" plug-in jumper in accordance with the drives which
already exist.
If the DVD drive is operated as a second drive on an IDE cable, e.g. in addition to
a hard disk, the plug-in jumper has to be in its "SL" position (slave position), see
the basic setting above.
If you want to run the DVD drive as the first drive set the plug-in jumper over to
"MA" (e.g. if you want to operate a ZIP drive or a CD recorder as the second drive).
The "CS" (Cable Select) setting may not be used; it is of no significance for conventional PC's; a drive thus adjusted will possibly not be identified correctly by
the PC. Exclusively use the "SL" and "MA" settings.
• If there is a defect in the drive the CD/DVD which is in the drive may be ejected
manually by means of a bent-straight paper clip.
To this effect, push in the paper clip in a straight condition; apply a slight pressure to slowly force out the slide-in unit containing the CD.
Employ the emergency ejector only if the drive is defective.
Windows 9x/ ME, etc. do NOT require a driver installation because the drive is identified automatically. The driver diskette which was delivered is NOT necessary.
Only if you want to re-install Windoews a so-called start-up diskette is needed on
which the driver (e.g. "dvdrom.sys.") has to be incorporated into the config.sys. file
(DEVICE = DVDROM.SYS/D: MSCD001); then, copy the MSCDEX.EXE as well (this file
can be found in the directory "C:\Windows\Command") onto the diskette and incorporate it into the autoexe.bat (MSCDEX.EXE /D: MSCD001).
Recommendations & suggestions
• The digital output provides a sigital signal only if audio CD's are used. If DVD's
are played there is no digital signal there.
For DVD's, the audio signal is comprised in the data flow and will be separated
from the image signal in the PC via the DVD player software.
• The playback of DVD's not only requires an appropriate software (the scope of
delivery of this drive also comprises "WinDVD2000"), but also a PC which works
fast accordingly. Since the data are decoded via a software thePC should have a
speed of at least 500 to 600 MHz. A graphics board which is directly compatible
with X7 and has at least 8 MB also is a prerequisite of the system.
Activate the DMA mode for the DVD drive:
Select the DVD drive in the system control under "System/ Equipment Manager/
CD- ROM" and click "Characteristics". Activate the "DMA" mode under
"Settings", put the tick at its side. If no possible "DMA" adjustment can be seen
the DMA mode has been activated already (which often occurs for PCI-DIE plugin modules).
• Take care of correct wire placement while connecting the audio cable (R = right,
G = Ground / Mass /GND; L = Left); the same applies to the digital output (D =
Digital signal, G = Ground / Mass / GND).
• The play/ skip keys make it easier to play back audio CD's. After an insertion of
the audio CD, it is sufficient to press the "Play / Skip" key to start the playback.
Pressing this key another time causes a skip to the next music title.
Pressing the "Ejector / Stop" key once stops the playback, pressing it another
time will eject the CD.

Le produit est prévu pour être incorporé dans un ordinateur compatible IBM et y sert
à la reproduction de disques DVD ou de CD audios et, bien sûr, à l’utilisation des
cédéroms conventionnels pour ordinateurs.
Débranchez l’ordinateur, dans lequel le lecteur DVD doit être
incorporé, ainsi que tous les appareils y étant branchés et séparez tous les appareils du réseau, débranchez la fiche de la prise
de courant !
Éteindre seulement par l’interrupteur ne suffit pas !

• Quand votre ordinateur ne démarre pas correctement, arrêtez-le immédiatement et contrôlez tous les réglages et tous les câblages.
Avant d’ouvrir l’ordinateur à nouveau, il doit impérativement être à nouveau
séparé de la tension du réseau, voir plus haut !
• Le strap enfichable "CS/ SL/ MA" doit être ajusté en fonction des lecteurs déjà
installés.
Si le lecteur DVD est le deuxième lecteur en service sur un câble IDE, par ex. en
supplément d’un disque dur, le strap enfichable doit être mis sur la position « SL
» (Slave), cf. réglage de base décrit ci-dessus.
Si vous voulez utiliser le lecteur DVD en tant que premier lecteur, le strap enfichable doit être positionné sur « MA » (Master) (par ex. si vous voulez utiliser
comme deuxième lecteur un lecteur ZIP ou un graveur de CD).
Il ne faut pas utiliser la position "CS" (Cable Select), elle n’a aucune signification
pour les PCs conventionnels ; un lecteur réglé ainsi risque de ne pas être reconnu correctement par le PC. N’utilisez que les positions « SL » et « MA ».
• Quand le lecteur est défectueux, le disque CD/DVD se trouvant dans le lecteur
peut être sorti manuellement à l’aide d’un trombone déplié pour qu’il soit tout
droit.
Introduisez à cet effet le trombone tout droit dans le trou d’ouverture manuelle
du lecteur et appuyez légèrement ; le tiroir rack du CD sort lentement.
N’utilisez cette méthode que quand le lecteur est défectueux.
• Veillez à une affectation correcte quand vous branchez le câble audio (R = droite, G = Ground/ masse/ GND, L = gauche); cela est également valable pour la
sortie digitale (D = signal digital, G = Ground/ masse/ GND).
• La touche Play-/ Skip facilite la reproduction des CD audios. Après avoir inséré
le CD audio, il suffit d’appuyer sur la touche « Play-/ Skip » pour démarrer la
reproduction. Appuyer une deuxième fois sur cette même touche fait passer au
titre suivant.
Quand vous appuyez sur la touche « Sortie/Stop », la reproduction est arrêtée,
après avoir appuyé une deuxième fois, le CD sort.
Pour Windows 9x/ ME etc. AUCUNE installation de pilote est nécessaire, le lecteur
est automatiquement reconnu. La disquette du pilote contenue dans l’emballage
n’est PAS nécessaire !!
C’est seulement au cas où vous voudriez réinstaller Windows qu’une disquette d’initialisation est nécessaire, par laquelle le pilote (par ex. "dvdrom. sys") doit être
incorporé dans le fichier de config. sys (DEVICE= DVDROM. SYS /D: MSCD001) ;
dans ce cas, copiez également le MSCDEX. EXE (ce fichier se trouve par ex. dans le
répertoire "C:\ Windows\ Command" ) sur la disquette et incorporez-le au Autoexec.

Trucs & astuces
• La sortie digitale ne fournit un signal digital que pour des CD audios. Lors de la
reproduction de DVDs il n’y a pas ici de signal digital !
Sur les DVDs le signal audio se trouve dans le flux de données et est séparé du
signal vidéo seulement dans l’ordinateur au moyen du logiciel de lecture DVD.
• Pour la reproduction de DVDs un logiciel correspondant (« WinDVD2000 » est
contenu dans l’emballage de ce lecteur) et aussi un ordinateur suffisamment
rapide sont nécessaires. Comme le décodage des données s’effectue par le logiciel, l’ordinateur doit au moins disposer d’une vitesse de 500- 600MHz. Une
autre condition requise du système est une carte graphique compatible au
DirectX7 avec au moins 8MB.
Activez le mode DMA pour le lecteur DVD :
Choisissez sur le panneau de configuration le lecteur DVD dans « Système/
Manager des périphériques/ CD- ROM » et cliquez sur « caractéristiques ». Sous
« réglages », vous cliquez sur le mode « DMA », cochez la case à côté. Dans le
cas où aucune possibilité de réglage « DMA » n’y serait, c’est que le mode DMA
est déjà enclenché (cela est souvent le cas pour les cartes d’extension PCI- IDE).

• Verbind uw computer en monitor weer met de netspanning en schakel alle apparaten in.

• Le pin qui se trouve normalement sur le connecteur 40pôles IDE manque ici pour
éviter qu’un câble correspondant y soit branché par inadvertance.
Schakel de computer waarin de DVD drive ingebouwd zal worden
en alle aangesloten apparaten uit en koppel de apparaten los van
de netspanning. Haal de stekker uit het stopcontact! Het uitschakelen via de aan/uit-schakelaar is niet voldoende!
• Aan de 40-polige IDE aansluiting ontbreekt er een pin. Dit is normaal en verhindert bij de betreffende kabels dat ze verkeerd aangesloten worden.
• De jumpers "CS/SL/MA" moeten in overeenstemming met de reeds aanwezige
drives ingesteld worden.
Wilt u de DVD drive als tweede drive via een IDE kabel gebruiken, b.v. als aanvulling op de harde schijf, moet de jumper in de stand "SL" (Slave) staan, zie
basisinstelling bovenaan.
Wilt u de DVD drive als eerste drive gebruiken, moet u de jumper in de stand
"MA" (Master) zetten (indien u b.v. een ZIP-drive of cd-brander als tweede drive
wilt gebruiken).
De instelling "CS" (Cable Select) mag niet gebruikt worden daar ze bij gewone
PC´s geen betekenis heeft; een drive met deze instelling zal evtl. niet correct herkend worden door de PC. Gebruik uitsluitend de instellingen "SL" en "MA".
• Indien de drive defect is kan u met een uitgevouwen paperclip de CD/DVD in de
drive handmatig doen uitwerpen. Schuif hiertoe de paperclip rechtuit in de drive; door een licht drukken zal de lade met de CD langzaam eruit geduwd worden.
Gebruik deze nooduitwerping enkel indien de drive defect is.
• Houd bij de aansluiting van de audiokabel rekening met de correcte bezetting (R =
Rechts, G = Ground/Massa/GND, L = Links); hetzelfde geldt voor de digitale uitgang (D = Digitaal Signaal, G = Ground/Massa/GND).
• De Play/Skip toets helpt bij de weergave van audio-CD´s. Na het plaatsen van de
CD hoeft u enkel op de "Play/Skip" toets te drukken om de weergave op te starten. Drukt u opnieuw op de toets wordt overgeschakeld naar de volgende
muziektrack.
Drukt u op de "Eject/Stop" toets wordt de weergave stopgezet, drukt u opnieuw
op de toets wordt de CD uitgeworpen.
Installatie van de stuurprogramma´s
Bij Windows 9x/ME enz. is de installatie van de stuurprogramma´s NIET nodig, de
drive wordt automatisch gedetecteerd. De meegeleverde diskette met stuurprogramma´s is dus hier NIET nodig!
Enkel indien u Windows opnieuw wilt installeren is een zog. opstartdiskette nodig
waarop het stuurprogramma (b.v. "dvdrom.sys") aan het config.sys bestand toegevoegd moet worden (DEVICE=DVDROM.SYS /D: MSCD001); kopieer dan ook
MSCDEX.EXE (dit bestand is b.v. in de map "C:\ Windows\ Command" te vinden) op
de diskette en voeg het toe aan autoexec.bat (MSCDEX.EXE /D: MSCD001).
Tips & wenken
• De digitale uitgang levert enkel bij audio-CD´s een digitaal signaal. Bij het afspelen van DVD´s wordt hier geen signaal geleverd!
Bij DVD´s is het audiosignaal mede inbegrepen in de gegevensstroom en wordt
het pas in de PC van het beeldsignaal losgekoppeld via de DVD playersoftware.
• Voor de weergave van DVD´s is naast de betreffende software (in "WinDVD2000"
inbegrepen dat met deze drive meegeleverd is) ook een voldoende snelle PC
nodig. Daar de decodering van de gegevens via software geschiedt, moet de PC
minstens 500-600MHz snel zijn. Een DirectX7 compatible grafische kaart met
8MB is tevens een minimumvereiste.
Activeer de DMA modus voor de DVD drive als volgt:
Kies bij Configuratiescherm bij "Systeem/Apparaatbeheer/CD-ROM" de DVD drive en klik op "Eigenschappen". Bij "Instellingen" activeert u de "DMA" modus
met een vinkje. Indien er geen keuzemogelijkheid "DMA" te zien valt, is de DMA
modus reeds geactiveerd (dit is vaak het geval bij PCI-IDE insteekkaarten).
