Asiens Profil hat sich im Bereich der Wertschöpfung für Forschung und Innovation in den letzten Jahren
drastisch gewandelt. Als eine Region, die hervorragend für die kostengünstige Herstellung von
Technologieprodukten aufgestellt ist, beansprucht Asien inzwischen darüber hinaus auch die Führerschaft
als Trendsetter für verschiedene Disziplinen des modernen Fortschritts und der Innovation. Im Zuge dieser
Entwicklung hat sich für westliche Akteure auch die Rolle Singapurs als bevorzugtes „Gateway-für-Asien“
nachhaltig geändert. Singapur ist heute mehr und mehr dafür aufgestellt auch die Rolle eines Forschungssowie Innovations- und Enterprise-Hubs für Asien einzunehmen.
Für wissenschaftlich- und forschungs-orientierte Ingenieure aus Deutschland bietet sich damit eine
Vielzahl von neuen Möglichkeiten, berufliche Anreize mit einem Aufenthalt in einer tropischen, sich
schnell entwickelnden und interkulturell sehr reizvollen Umgebung zu verbinden.
Der Vortrag gibt einen Überblick über strategische Pläne und Entwicklungen des Stadtstaates Singapur im
Forschungs- und Innovationsbereich und liefert Hinweise für Studierende und Absolventen, die von der
asiatischen Innovationskultur für ihre Karriereentwicklung profitieren wollen.
Der Redner hat die Entwicklung Asiens in den letzten 20 Jahren selbst vor Ort intensiv verfolgt.
Profil – Ulf Schneider
Ulf Schneider is General Manager at Intel Technology Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore since November 2015 and
the President of the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) since 2005.
Ulf has more than 25 years of experience in the Semiconductor Industry. Prior to joining Intel, Ulf has held
different managing positions with Lantiq, Infineon Technologies and Siemens Semiconductors in
Germany, India, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Ulf currently holds additional appointments as:
 Chairman of the R&D Committee at the Singapore-German Chamber of Industry & Commerce (SGC)
since 2010;
 Member of the Advisory Committees of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at
National University of Singapore as well as the School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at
Nanyang Technological University in Singapore;
 Member of the Singapore Customs Advisory Committee since July 2010;
Ulf has been appointed as an advisor for several semiconductor start-up companies in Singapore, most
recently for Silicon Cloud International.
Ulf holds a Masters’ degree in Computer Science from the Technical University (RWTH) in Aachen,
Germany
