Announcer: An interview with Simon, a 13-year-old boy from Oxford.
Interviewer: Do you have many rules in your family, Simon?
Simon:
Well, let me think, yeah, I have to clean my shoes every week, and
I have to keep my room tidy. And I have to put out the dustbins on
dustbin day.
Interviewer: Do you have to help in the kitchen?
Simon:
I don’t do any cooking because I can’t cook. But it’s usually my job
to unload the dishwasher.
Interviewer: What about watching TV? Are there any rules about that?
Simon:
Not really. I’ve got a TV in my room and I watch what I like. But I
have to switch it off at bedtime.
Interviewer: Are there any rules which your parents are especially strict about?

Simon:
70
Oh, yes. When I go out, I have to tell my mum or dad or leave a
note.
Interviewer: When you go out, do you have to be back by a certain time?
Simon:
Yes, I’m not allowed to stay out after seven o’clock, but I am
allowed to stay out longer on Saturdays.
Interviewer: Do you think that your parents are strict?
Simon:
I think they’re quite strict, but if there’s a problem, they’ll always
listen to me. So I think my parents are okay, really.
