can be an energy-efficien alternative to boilers, furnaces and air conditioners. A heat pump
can both heat and cool. On a simple level, it is a

In the US, “gas” is also used in
this context, but it more commonly describes the fuel that
powers a car or other vehicle.
In the UK, on the other hand, we
call this fuel “petrol”.
