Read the text below. Are the statements «right» or «wrong»? If there is not enough information, choose «doesn’t say». Tick the appropriate column.
A new language-tool!
Pascal and Jan are two 17-year-old boys who grew up in the same small German town.
They have always been friends and classmates. Like all their other friends, they enjoy
going fishing or swimming at the weekends. But for the last months, they've spent every
weekend in Jan's room working on their computer word game.
The idea for the game came from Pascal's younger brother, Leif, who had problems with
his reading. Leif learns words more easily by seeing pictures and hearing information
than he does by reading. His brother wanted to help. Pascal and Jan worked together for
over 200 hours to make a computer game and now it's ready to use. It's a speaking and
picture game. For example, if you look at the word 'sweater', there's a drawing of a
sweater next to it and you can hear Jan saying 'Sweater! Sweater!' at the same time.
The two boys have won a lot of prizes for their computer game and it will soon be on sale
around the world. Many schools are interested in buying it.

Aufgabe 7
The people below all want to watch a film on TV. On the right there are reviews of eight
films. Decide which film (A-H) would be the most suitable for the following people (1-5)
and write the correct letter (A-H) into the box.
1. Stella likes to relax watching the latest
romantic films on TV, especially if they
make her laugh. She particularly likes
those which have some music in
them.
2. John enjoys watching thrillers. He
prefers adventures which actually
happened to people in real life, as he
is interested in the lives of other people.
3. Dorian loves listening to pop music
and reading magazines about it. He
doesn’t mind what sort of film he sees,
as long as it’s a new one about pop
stars or their music.
A
E
Space - here we come
This film about adventures in space isn’t
supposed to be funny,
but spectators laugh
sometimes. Although
this is one of several
very similar films made
recently, it’s one of the
better ones, as it certainly holds someone’s
attention.
See you in Paris
This is about a journey
across Europe in the
1960s. A group of young
people travel across
Europe in an old van,
but nothing really exciting happens to them and
it isn’t very funny. It’s a
weak comedy film with
singing. The actors are
not well known, although
some of them could
certainly sing.
B
Seaside story
This funny film was
made in the past, but is
still as good as it was 25
years ago. The main
actors, who were already famous when it
was made, made several more films together
later on. The story takes
place in a very unusual
hotel at the seaside
where the guests have
lots of problems.
C
4. Caroline likes watching old-fashioned
films. She prefers comedies, particularly those with famous actors. She’s
not keen on musicals or thrillers.
5. Peter‘s hobby is reading and he enjoys watching films on TV where stories are taken from literature. His favourite books are those by famous authors of the past. He reads books
about the cinema, too, and likes
watching famous actors.
Family affairs
This film manages to
show some serious
problems a family can
have in modern Britain
without depressing the
audience. You still enjoy
the film if you have
already read the book of
the same name. There
is some excellent acting
from some completely
unknown actors.
D
Prisoner for a year
Photographer Elena
Maine planned to work
in a dangerous part of
the world for six weeks.
This adventure film tells
how she escaped from
the people who held her
prisoner for a year. It is
difficult to believe that
this actually happened
to someone who is still
alive.
F
All about love
This follows the usual
love story – boy meets
girl, they fall in love and
sing some songs about
it. It’s an enjoyable film,
although there’s nothing
special about the singing, and it has its amusing parts. It comes to the
TV screen very quickly,
as it was only made a
year ago.
G
Music is our life
This film came out last
month, and all the young
people are queuing to
see it. There will be a
whole generation of fans
watching the music of
this group, because
Sure Fire is everyone’s
favourite at the moment.
H
The lake view
Although the main roles
are all acted by wellknown stars of film or
TV, the dialogue seems
too slow compared to
modern films. However,
people who like
Susanna Miller’s writing
will enjoy it because it is
beautifully filmed. The
story keeps perfectly to
the novel written two
hundred years ago.

This is part of an e-mail you have received from an English speaking friend:
I have heard that you attended a 3-month language course in Cambridge, England. Why
did you choose a school in England and not in America? How did you spend your free
time? Where did the other students in your class come from and where did you stay?
Write 70 – 80 words.
