apprenticeship (only at events with one language group).
Target group –– Parents of young people of career-choosing age
(1st–3rd secondary school years)
–– Young people in secondary school
–– Other family members and interested parties
Goals –– Young people and their parents become familiar with the road-
map for choosing a career, the Swiss education system, and
the importance of basic vocational education (apprenticeship
with or without Professional Baccalaureate BM).
–– Parents are familiar with the range of services offered by the
Job Information Centres (biz) and know where they can obtain
support if necessary.

Careers advisers support pupils in the process of choosing a career.
Interests, abilities, wishes and expectations are clarified in one or
more joint discussions. Parents are usually present as well. Depending on the individual, interest, ability and/or personality tests are
carried out. Careers advisers also help with applications or give tips
for the apprenticeship search.
Adults can also clarify questions regarding further training or
reorientation wishes with vocational, study and careers advisers.
Objectives and possible solutions are developed jointly. If necessary,
they can also make use of targeted coaching. Advisers also carry out
suitability, interest or personality tests on request.
For personal individual guidance it is necessary to register with your
regional Job Information Centre (biz). If required, biz will arrange for
an intercultural interpreter to be present.
