Modul 1Talking Pictures - Institut für Kulturdidaktik
Secondly, that all we ever do in our life is translation. Communicating is translating. Speaking is translating the idea through images into words and then putting them over to another. Transporting is translating an object to another place. These two ideas mean that we can take a short story and adapt it to the stage, and create images to link scenes together. This workshop is about stage acting and creating images, in short: performing. The group will explore characters, scenery, text, chorus work, movement, dance, scenography, music, singing, gesture... And images, of course. It goes without saying! The group will be informed before the workshop of the story to read and prepare. Modul 2 Tragedy and Bouffons In this module the group makes a physical approach to text. All materials are tragic. Mount Everest gets smaller each year. All falls. Every living creature must pass away or pass on. The best laid plans „Of Mice or Men“ oft go awry - hence „Of Mice And Men“. The relationship between Man and god, between Woman and god, is the motor beneath all tragedies. Faust and King Lear, Antigone and Miss Julie or Richard III. – the list is long. In many tragedies there is the Fool. In The Tempest we see Caliban, a Bouffon. If, in tragedy, gods spit on man, then the Bouffon spits on the gods. The famous reversal of dynamic. But the bouffons do not spit on us, the humans of this tragic world. The Group will be informed of the texts to study before the workshop. Modul 3 Fools and Clowns The objective is to go from the sense of humour to humour itself. One‘s sense of oneself, of success and failure, of our place in the world, depend upon our sense of humour. We take things seriously. Better not to take oneself too seriously, though. Humour is a tough business. Nothing more difficult than making the audience laugh at us or with us. The group will explore texts, actions, gags: The hilarious jokers, The Fool in Shakespeare, Yvor Cutlet of Y‘Hup, Norman (Wisdom) and Bruce at the London Palladium, and The Grotesks… and explore oneself. For this, two ideas are prominent: Firstly, thatonstageallenchainements, transitions, linkings, are made by the image. Although we often see ideas and intelligence trying in vain to do the job, what the audience craves is the image which carries us into the next scene. It is essential to capture the audience in an image which is between the idea and the word. Images are in the world of movement, especially when they are still… THEATER Modul 1 Talking Pictures PÄDAGOGIK Norman Taylor LOOK, SEE, AND, MOVE ADVANCED Modul 1 Talking Pictures Mi 17. bis So 21.
