Castello Mediceo di Cafaggiolo
Il Castello è uno dei grandi capolavori dell’architettura rinascimentale. Opera del Michelozzo
la sua trasformazione da antico fortilizio a edificio residenziale. L’aspetto austero della costruzione racchiude contemporaneamente un’atmosfera pacata e serena. Nel passato fu spesso
luogo di incontri, simposi, feste, balli e ricevimenti di illustri personaggi e artisti ospiti della
famiglia Medici. Il Castello è stato anche dimora di Lorenzo Il Magnifico e di Papa Leone X.
Dopo i Medici, il castello fu di possedimento degli Asburgo Lorena e successivamente dei
Principi Borghese per poi divenire proprietà privata.

Château Mediceo di Cafaggiolo
Ce Château est l’un des chefs-d’oeuvre de l’architecture de la Renaissance; il fut transformé d’ancien

The Medici Castle of Cafaggiolo
This castle is one of the great works of Renaissance architecture and was transformed by
Michelozzo from an antique fortress into a residential palace. Though the appearance of the
building is austere, the atmosphere inside is both serene and peaceful. In the past it was often
used by the Medici family for meetings, symposiums, parties, balls and for playing host to a
series of illustrious artists and guests. The castle was also home to Lorenzo il Magnifico and
Pope Leone X. After the Medici family, the castle passed to the Asburgo Lorena family and
later to the Principi Borghese family, after which it became private property.
