MEDIEVAL CASTLE OF ORICOURT

Two high square towers, walled inner courts and dry ditches, a unique
pigeon-houses and an ancient wall: this is Château d’Oricourt, built
in the 12th century. This well preserved site is further complemented
by serveral residences ans a farmhouse which dates from the 15th
and the 18th centuries respectively. In these shady surroundings,
this castle is one of the most impressive examples of the military
architecture of the Middle-Ages in France-Comté. Open every day
from the 1/03 to the 15/11, from 14:00 to 18:00, except on Tuesday.

The castle of Villersexel dates back to 1880. It was rebuilt 10 years
after the battle of Villersexel (9 and 10 January 1871). During the visit
(Sunday at 15:30), you will discover a vast building of Louis XIII style
(white stone and brick) which looks like 100 years ago.
The castle also offers B and B rooms and suite.
THE ROMAN CHURCH OF MARAST
The priory of Marast, very rare Romanesque building in the area,
was founded in 1120. The architecture is very pure and simple
(Cistercians). The vault is exceptional with its frameworks which look
like the hull of topsy-turvy ship. In the choir, ancient tombs are still
conserved. Thanks to the department, the church could be restored.
The two lateral naves which were destroyed in the 18th century were
rebuilt. A written guided visit of the church is available at the tourist
office. The entrance is also made for handicapped persons. Free.

The ancient hospital of Villersexel was founded in the 18th century
by the Marquis de Grammont. The visit last almost 1 hour and
shows you the ancient pharmacy of the 18th century, the kitchen,
the linen room, and the chapel. Minimum 4 persons
Guided visit of the old town of Villersexel
Thursday at 17:00
Villersexel is a medieval town which was founded in the 10th
century around the mill and the castle. The town was built on a hill,
in order to defend the place. There were two different quarters: the
“upper town” and the “lower town”. During the visit (around 1 hour)
you will discover the typical monuments of Villersexel. Minimum

On this site of 150 hectares of green and water are situated the
campsite of Bonnal, The Cabanes des Grands Lacs (cabins in the
trees: www.cabanesdesgrandslacs.com), a lake for bathing, and
two lakes for line fishing. Pick-nick and rest area walk path. Dogs
are forbidden. Profitable entrance. Aslo at the entrance of the site:
restaurant La Forge and karting.
