Karoline Schuch
Karoline Schuch was born in 1981 in Jena. After taking her ‘Abitur’ school
examinations she soon became well known to a wide audience through her first
leading roles in the early-evening series ‘Verbotene Liebe’ and as Melanie, the
daughter of Inspector Schenk (Dietmar Bär), in the WDR production ‘Tatort’. Since
then the actress has appeared in countless demanding productions including
Claudia Prietzel’s ‘Der Puppengräber’, Matthias Tiefenbacher’s ‘Die Schönste aus
Bitterfeld’ and Margarethe von Trotta’s ‘Die andere Frau’ (The Other Woman). In
2008 she was to be seen in the film ‘Einer bleibt sitzen’, in the film adaptation of the
fairy tale ‘Das tapfere Schneiderlein’ (The Brave Little Tailor) and a leading role in an
episode of the Frankfurt ‘Tatort’ series ‘Bevor es dunkel wird’, for which she received
the Günter Strack Young Actress’s Award. The three-part ZDF production ‘Krupp –
Eine Familie zwischen Krieg und Frieden’, Christian Klandt’s ‘Weltstadt’ (his debut
film that won several prizes incl. the Silver Zenith at the Montreal World Film
Festival) and Uli Edel’s ‘Zeiten ändern dich’ followed in 2009. In addition to her work
as an actress Karoline Schuch completed a degree in psychology at the Freie
Universität Berlin in 2010. In 2012 the versatile actress appeared in the debut film
‘Puppe, Icke und der Dicke’ in Marc Rothemund’s cinema comedy ‘Man tut was man
kann’ as well as in Til Schweiger’s action thriller ‘Schutzengel’ (The Guardians). This
was followed in 2014 with Karoline Schuch’s first leading role in a cinema film
production in the German-Israeli film ‘Hannas Reise’ by Julia von Heinz. That same
year she was also to be seen in the unexpected cinema hit ‘Wir sind die Neuen’ by
Ralf Westhoff and alongside Friedrich Mücke in a leading role in the television drama
‘Unter der Haut’, directed by Friedemann Fromm. In December 2015 Karoline
Schuch worked together with Devid Striesow and Martina Gedeck in the film
adaptation of Hape Kerkeling’s cult bestseller ‘Ich bin dann mal weg’ which became
a huge success with the public. In 2016 she is continuing her successful work with
Julia von Heinz in front of the camera as Katharina von Bora. The film is to be
screened by ARD during ‘Luther Year’ in 2017.
