Griesson Soft Cake: New winter edition will ensure a strong
impetus at the PoS
The highlight of the confectionery shelves: winter apple with choice forest
fruits / Continuation of the successful season concept
Polch, 30 July 2013 – New season edition of the popular Griesson Soft Cake: after
the success of the summer variety with lemon and white chocolate, Griesson - de
Beukelaer (GdB) has also come up with a surprise for the winter months with a
special flavour. The Griesson Soft Cake of the season, winter apple with choice
forest fruits (300 grams) will soon get itself noticed in terms of its taste and
appearance, and will create additional impulses to buy from which retailers will
benefit too.
This innovation will be available from September 2013 to February 2014 (while
stocks last).
For the new variety GdB is using the typical soft and airy egg biscuit with a crisp
chocolate coating, plus the juice of choice fruits: blackcurrants, strawberries,
bilberries, raspberries and apples. Consumer tests showed convincing acceptance
and a very high willingness to buy (source: concept & use test 2013). The packaging
with a snowy landscape and attractive illustrations of fruit will also get the buyer in the
mood for the peaceful season.
The seasonal varieties of Griesson Soft Cake bring guaranteed success and are
more popular every year: the two varieties in 2012 once again generated 20 percent
extra sales

retailers+drugstores, turnover 2011 vs. 2012). This year too GdB is sticking with its
tried and tested concept: Although the varieties change on a six-monthly rhythm, they
have a consistent EAN and can thus always be optimally placed on the same area of
the shelves. With secondary displays in a wintry design for all sizes of store, GdB
offers additional opportunities of advertising the seasonal product to attract plenty of
attention.
As with all its branded products, Griesson - de Beukelaer buys 100 percent UTZ
Certified cocoa for the Griesson Soft Cake too. In this way the company is supporting
the cocoa farmers in increasing the quality of their harvests in a sustainable, socially
responsible and environmentally friendly way.

savoury biscuit market and produces 153,000 tons of biscuits a year at its sites in
Polch (Rhineland-Palatinate), Kempen (North Rhine-Westphalia), Kahla (Thuringia),
