Der unmittelbare Nachbar zur extravaganten
Architektur des Congress Centers ist ein robuster, rein funktionaler und aufgrund seiner Betonbauweise äußerst belastbarer Zweckbau. Auf
zwei Ausstellungsebenen bietet die Anfang der
70er Jahre vom Architekten Martin Schoenmakers entworfene dreischiffige Halle 5 neben
6 Büros rund 20.760 m2 Bruttoausstellungsfläche, die für extrem hohe Lasten auslegt ist.
Das kleine Kraftpaket liegt zwar im ästhetischen
wie auch im buchstäblichen Windschatten des
Congress Centers, kann jedoch über zwei
Zugänge mit dessen großem Kongress- und Bankettsaal verbunden werden und erweist sich so
auf funktionaler Ebene als perfekte Ergänzung.
Compact and a powerball
The immediate neighbour to the Congress Center
with its extravagant architecture is a robust,
purely functional building which, thanks to its
concrete structure, can bear extremely heavy
loads. The three-aisle construction of Hall 5,
designed in the early 1970s by architect Martin
Schoenmakers, has two exhibition levels offering, along with six offices, around 20,760 square
metres of exhibition space designed to bear very
heavy loads. Although this little gem is in the
shadow of the Congress Center both aesthetically and literally, it has two access points to the
latter’s large congress and banqueting hall and
thus proves itself on a functional level as the
perfect complement.
